Our old solaris box had to go back to its former home and we picked up an HP vectra x86 machine for next to nothing. I have managed to install 4.2 release with only minor difficulties. I can get my cvs/sshd/ftp working fine. On the old box we used Sybase 7.01 for solaris x86. We have a registered 7.01 for linux rh 6.1. Is it possible to get this to install and run on the FreeBSD machine? I have installed the compatibility layer. The first hurdle is the setup script which is bombing right out. I can hack the script bit by bit, but I would like to know if anyone else has succeeded at this already to give me some encouragement. -- Robin Becker To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-database" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-database Fri Feb 16 3:20: 0 2001 Delivered-To: freebsd-database@freebsd.org Received: from smtp10.xs4all.nl (smtp10.xs4all.nl [194.109.6.54]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9376637B491 for ; Fri, 16 Feb 2001 03:19:57 -0800 (PST) Received: from webmail1.xs4all.nl (webmail1.xs4all.nl [194.109.127.31]) by smtp10.xs4all.nl (8.11.0/8.11.0) with ESMTP id f1GBIwf15193; Fri, 16 Feb 2001 12:18:58 +0100 (CET) Received: by webmail1.xs4all.nl (8.9.3/8.9.3) id MAA11405; Fri, 16 Feb 2001 12:19:54 +0100 (CET) Date: Fri, 16 Feb 2001 12:19:54 +0100 (CET) Message-Id: <200102161119.MAA11405@webmail1.xs4all.nl> X-Authentication-Warning: webmail1.xs4all.nl: reinoud set sender to reinoud@xs4all.nl using -f From: Reinoud van Leeuwen To: Robin Becker , freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG References: In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: IMP/PHP3 Imap webMail Program 2.0.0-xs4all Subject: Re: Can I use my linuxrh6.1 Sybase? Sybase Enterpise 11.X (and presumably 12.X too) run quite well on FreeBSD. But I think you are referring to Sybase *Anywhere* 7.X. I have not yet heard of people trying to get that working under FreeBSD.... I tried unsuccessfully about 6 months ago to get apache/php3/freetds/sybase running and communicating on the same 4.0R box. If you don't mind a follow-up post on connectivity, I (and perhaps the list) would appreciate it. -- Regards, Doug To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-database" in the body of the message
