Channel aggregation only works if you use isdn4bsd together with the userland ppp package. See the ppp manpage and look at the stuff under /usr/shared/examples/ppp for ISDN related examples. -- Gary Jennejohn garyj@jennejohn.org gj@freebsd.org To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Tue Apr 17 4:17:32 2001 Delivered-To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Received: from mail.gmx.net (pop.gmx.net [194.221.183.20]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 6E03837B43C for ; Tue, 17 Apr 2001 04:17:29 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from NKoch@gmx.de) Received: (qmail 11214 invoked by uid 0); 17 Apr 2001 11:17:27 -0000 Received: from sign-3e366cab.pool.mediaways.net (HELO k62300) (62.54.108.171) by mail.gmx.net (mail07) with SMTP; 17 Apr 2001 11:17:27 -0000 From: "Norbert Koch" To: Subject: teles s016 / signature bytes Date: Tue, 17 Apr 2001 13:18:18 +0200 Message-ID: <000001c0c730$1a7e0d00$fe78a8c0@koch> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 (Normal) X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook 8.5, Build 4.71.2377.0 Importance: Normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2615.200 Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Hello. Having successfully installed FritzCard I found an old Creatix (Teles) S016 card which I thought should be installable w/o problems. I read "th 1062.2c" and "mp 130.2" on board. After re-compilation of my fbsd 4.1 kernel the i4b layer1 reported me a bad signature value. I changed the layer1 code (i4b_tel016.c) to print all three signature values and found 59-9B-1E instead of the expected 51-93-1E. Does anyone know if that signature really could exist or if I have a card with bit 3 sticked to '1'? What simple functional test of the card could I do before investigating too much work in a possibly defective card? Thank you in advance. Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Just wondering... When I'm doing a data call on isdn, I'm sending a stream of bits through my ISDN2 to the exchange, which routes it through to my ISP on an ISDN30, where it reaches the access device (Livingston portmaster), which converts the bitstream to ip traffic. It then goes through another router and a "modem" through an E1, which really also is an ISDN30 to the upstream provider to the internet. Couldn't a modern ISDN-exchange by itself convert my isdn2 datastream to ip traffic and connect to the internet backbone right there? Perhaps it is not done so anywhere, but shouldn't it be possible? Hm, I think it is configurable nowadays: aliasing If this parameter is set to on, alias processing of telephone-number to name is enabled (see also the aliasfile keyword below). The default is off. (op- tional) aliasfile Specifies the name of the telephone number-to-name alias database file shared with the isdntel(8) util- ity when alias processing is enabled via the aliasing keyword. One is reserved for the kids too, and one for fax) If the incoming number is not known, i call a script, which makes a lookup on the phonecompany's webpage, parses the html and returns the name and adress. This is entered into a mysql table. The caller, callee and time is entered into another table. I then do a query in the database, which returns the name and the last 10 calls this person has made to us. This is sent both by email to our accounts at work, and by sms to our cellphones. A webpage on my server at home shows the last 25 calls with name, number and time. The next project is to lookup the number in the membership database for the riding club, and if it's a member, show the current balance due. If the decision for i4b to answer the call could be spawned to an external program, one could even offer voice mailboxes. Or interface it to festival voice synthesis.
