From the last list discussions "If you just need 4 indepenent ports with good throughput, go for the DLink ($150-190). If you need 4 ports that can all haul-ass all the time go for the Adaptec board (>$600?). The cards with the 4-port "hub" are really a single port. IIRC, the Adaptec board is a 64-bit PCI card and the DLink is 32bit. In my situation, I figured I could buy a DLink and a spare with money left since I need 4 ports, but only two are 100bT. We usually avoid Adaptec stuff now, though we lived on the 1540/1740 series in the "old days". A while back we fixed all our Adaptec problems by replacing 2940/3940 SCSI cards with TekRam DC-390x boards and had cash to spare. Really dumb question but do you have .exe listed as a FileType in the AddType setting in httpd.conf?

Subject: FW: Installing FrontPage Extensions - Getting Closer

To summarize, I've made an attempt at compiling a custom Apache server with
SSL and FrontPage extensions.  After many tries, I think I'm getting closer.
The server seems to work fine and secure access appears to be OK too.
However, when I attempt to connect to a "web" with a FrontPage client, I get
errors from the following:

On the client (wecerr.txt):
04/09/2001 08:15:11
An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files. Authors - if authoring
against a web server, please contact the webmaster for this server's site.
WebMasters - please see the server's system log for more details.

fpexec log:
123 Blacksheep# cat fpexec.log
[2001-04-09 08:15:13]: uid: (nobody/nobody) gid: (nogroup/nogroup) cmd:
/_vti_bin/shtml.exe
[2001-04-09 08:15:13]: cannot stat directory: (/usr/local/www/data)

suexec log:
nothing

httpd access log:

[09/Apr/2001:08:15:12 -0700] "GET /_vti_inf.html HTTP/1.1" 200 1716

200 115
[09/Apr/2001:08:15:13 -0700] "OPTIONS / HTTP/1.1" 200 -

httpd error log:
nothing

Like I said, I think I'm close.  Does anybody know where my problem might
lie (other than the fact that I'm trying to use MS software on a FBSD system
:) )?

Thanks for your help!

Drew

Technology Grant News at http://www.technologygrantnews.com . service@technologygrantnews.com It's a publication that comes to you 4 times a year with the latest grant announcements for technology and other initiatives by tech funders, government and trade associations -- for nonprofits, social service providers, towns & cities and schools & universities. . It is not free. The layout is nice, easy, readable. Both useful, thought provoking--it puts technology funder funding for a variety of initiatives and sectors----in ways that are easily readable and catalytic. I like to see what others are doing. and funding. I try to leverage the programs, achievement or models covered to whoever might be eligible. There are grants here by technology funders for education, literacy, digital divide, community, teaching the math and science of technology, steppingstones to technology for children with disabilities, women and economic development, environment, conservation, on-line art & exhibitions, digital libraries, and partnerships funding etc. At the site, you can subscribe on-line; have them invoice-bill your organization, or send a check. The publication saves scouting individual web sites. This analogy has been made before, but network scanning isn't like knocking on someones door. Attempting to access an IP using Internet Explorer on port 80 is like knocking on someones door. Port/Network scanning amounts to going to someones house, peering in all of the windows, testing the door to see if its unlocked, and seeing if the attic vent was left open on accident. This definitely should be illegal IMO... If it says 'welcome' you should not do anything bad. Only if it says 'welcome' AND you do something bad you go to jail.. eventually. IRL nobody says welco= me to strangers. But if you do, everybody says you're a very stupid person. I've recently spent some time scouring our tree looking for situations where setusercontext() is not used, as setusercontext() will be responsible for maintaining additional process capabilities and MAC labels at login-time. Probably, the setusercontext() call in this patch should use SETLOGIN_ALL minus any SETLOGIN flags that need to be explicitly excluded. Perhaps ideally, it would also set the uid's and so on, although suexec probably also has its own notions on how to handle that.
