Future advisories will go on WWW initially; we can either try and get ftp-master to also check out the advisories from CVS, or we can replace the FTP advisories directory with a set of symlinks to a file telling people to look at the website (i.e. to take care of external links pointing to the FTP advisories). See http://www.freebsd.org/~kris/security-new.tgz for my proposed redesign of the en/security directory (this also includes some other markup/content changes to the security.sgml which should probably be looked over by a WWWWeenie :-) We have to leave the current patches/ and tools/ directories on the FTP site because of all the existing links in advisories. I'd like to bring future patches and tools into CVS as well; but a problem is that we'll probably need to distribute binary upgrade packages with future advisories -- I'm not sure where they should go. It would be nice if they were mirrored to other WWW mirrors so they can be locally obtained. Something else we'll need is a way to rebuild the www.freebsd.org/security directory on the website when we release an advisory; if we're using WWW as the primary distribution mechanism then the updated files need to be live at the time of release. I'm not sure how this can be most easily accomplished (I have root on the freebsd.org machines, but some of the others who release advisories don't). Is it difficult to put $FreeBSD$ keyword in the file of SA but outside of GnuPG signature? We are translating SAs (mainly by hrs@FreeBSD.org) into Japanese, so the keyword make us happy to track original revisions. > Something else we'll need is a way to rebuild the > www.freebsd.org/security directory on the website when we release an > advisory; if we're using WWW as the primary distribution mechanism > then the updated files need to be live at the time of release. Hmmm, I don't know current status of new hardware for www.FreeBSD.org. I think Wolfram is writing documentation of building procedure for current www.FreeBSD.org (aka freefall). I want to cleanup Makefiles of www tree to chase dependency of files correctly. And then, make building period more frequently. As you said, I think it is good idea to prepare command to update www.FreeBSD.org contents by using specific GID. -- Jun Kuriyama // IMG SRC, Inc. // FreeBSD Project To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-www" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-www Sat May 26 2:30:57 2001 Delivered-To: freebsd-www@freebsd.org Received: from obsecurity.dyndns.org (adsl-63-207-60-83.dsl.lsan03.pacbell.net [63.207.60.83]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9F17B37B422; Sat, 26 May 2001 02:30:54 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from kris@obsecurity.org) Received: by obsecurity.dyndns.org (Postfix, from userid 1000) id AF5A666B21; Sat, 26 May 2001 02:30:53 -0700 (PDT) Date: Sat, 26 May 2001 02:30:53 -0700 From: Kris Kennaway To: Jun Kuriyama Cc: security-officer@FreeBSD.ORG, www@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: Changes to security WWW directory Message-ID: <20010526023053.A47746@xor.obsecurity.org> References: <20010525190609.A50526@xor.obsecurity.org> <7m3d9sjwdz.wl@waterblue.imgsrc.co.jp> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-md5; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="y0ulUmNC+osPPQO6" Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5i In-Reply-To: <7m3d9sjwdz.wl@waterblue.imgsrc.co.jp>; from kuriyama@imgsrc.co.jp on Sat, May 26, 2001 at 06:24:24PM +0900 Sender: owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org --y0ulUmNC+osPPQO6 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On Sat, May 26, 2001 at 06:24:24PM +0900, Jun Kuriyama wrote: > > See http://www.freebsd.org/~kris/security-new.tgz for my proposed > > redesign of the en/security directory (this also includes some other > > markup/content changes to the security.sgml which should probably be > > looked over by a WWWWeenie :-) >=20 > I like the idea to put SAs into www tree (and your patch seems OK). >=20 > Is it difficult to put $FreeBSD$ keyword in the file of SA but outside > of GnuPG signature?
