Responsibilities: job includes stewarding advertising schedules, writing sales orders, creating flowcharts/sales presentations, sending media kits, handling makegood discrepencies/missed spots, maintaining up-to-date files. Will have contact with clients as well as internal coordination with other CNBC offices. Administrative duties include answering phones, ordering supplies and overall office maintenance.

Qualifications: Must have strong computer skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Be able to quickly learn internal sales applications. Broadcast sales assistant experience required.

Marketing Associate

We operate all over the world, and specialize in getting our travelers to places it is difficult or impossible to reach on one's own. Our groups are small, our leaders expert, and our passion for out-of-the-way travel intense. Half or more of our business comes from customized trips, and we are much-sought location and logistics managers for movie companies, corporations, and academic institutions and serve as tourism consultants for many developing countries.

A. DUTIES

The Marketing Associate position, under the supervision of the President, assists in the planning and implementation of GeoEx's marketing programs. The objective of the program is to build GeoEx's brand and visibility in the marketplace, which includes past clients, prospective clients, the travel industry, trade and consumer media.

1. Direct Mail/Internet

-- Assists the President in the design, execution and evaluation of direct mail/internet marketing campaigns, which seeks to build and enhance a positive understanding of GeoEx's trips and services. The elements of the direct mail program include:
-- Overall prospect and client strategy (monthly and annual reviews), including coordinating cooperative mailing projects with the Adventure Collection.
-- Daily fulfillment/contact strategy and prospect follow up procedures (monthly and annual reviews)
-- List maintenance
-- Input procedures/prospect rating (ongoing), new customer acquisition
-- ACS/NCOA/Data Appending (biannually, annually, monthly)
-- Data integrity/cleanup procedures (monthly)
-- List Segmentation using Data Appending Technology
-- Predictive Modeling
-- Materials - Analysis and development of fulfillment pieces, which include evaluating the goal of the piece, audience, language, designing and presentation of the materials, sales message and timing (annual, monthly)
-- Delivery Systems 
-- Mailhouse Selection and Coordination (annual review)
-- Postal service liaison (annual review)
-- Inventory of USPS and FedEx fulfillment materials (monthly)
-- Fulfillment equipment oversight and management (annual review)
-- Provides input on Information System/Contact Tracking database design (ongoing)	
-- Performs data entry functions for electronic inquiries as needed

2. Publications (offline and online)

-- Provides publication planning, editorial and production support for all GeoEx sales/outreach programs.  This includes:
-- Develops cost-effective sales publication program (annual)
-- Assists with the design/writing/editorial review of sales materials, including detailed itineraries, introductory letters and other collateral sales and marketing materials (newsletters/catalog)
-- OverseeS the design/writing/editorial review and production management of up to two newsletters per year (biannually)
-- Production assistance with the company's annual catalog, including overall management of image/art procurement, inventory, usage rights negotiations and shipping). (annually) 

3. Media
-- Oversees the day-to-day outreach and media program.  The elements of the program include:
-- Develops a media and placement strategy (research travel media appropriate to GeoEx, develop a target list and determine an effective schedule of releases, media alerts, underwritten editorial support projects) (monthly and annual reviews)
-- Writes and distributes to local, national and trade media representatives, news releases and feature articles describing the programs, special events and accomplishments of GeoEx. News releases and feature articles are specifically targeted to specific segments of the media at regular intervals (e.g., trade media - 12 times per year; local media (6 times per year); national media - 4 times per year).
-- Organizes and coordinates media interviews with staff and may personally represent Geographic with the media. Briefs media representatives on GeoEx's activities (ongoing).
-- Researches and responds to requests for information and photographic material about GeoEx destinations.   Establishes and implements procedures for efficient accrual, storage,  retrieval, and flow of current timely company-related information (e.g., press clips and media kits).
-- Develop and maintains long term relationships with key media figures. This should include maintenance of the media list and periodic analysis of production (ongoing).
-- Advises management on possible public and/or media reactions to developments in the field; advises management of possible opportunities and pitfalls (ongoing).	

4. Advertising

-- Incumbent is responsible for planning and implementing GeoEx's advertising program. This involves working with the President to:
-- Develop a placement strategy (annually with monthly reviews)
-- Create an annual advertising budget (annual)
-- Oversee the conceptual design of message and artwork that reinforces market position and enhances market visibility (ongoing)
-- Coordination of artwork production by outside contractors
-- Development of an efficient tracking/fulfillment system (including Neodata strategy) (ongoing)
-- Implementation of a routine cost/revenue benefit reporting system to assess results of specific ads and campaigns (monthly).  	
-- Coordinatate cooperative advertising programs with the Adventure Collection.

5. Events
-? Coordinates for public and media outreach efforts, which may include slide shows, trade shows, conferences and special sales events. May represent GeoEx at events and be asked to give short sales-related presentations (ongoing).

6. Front line Administrative Backup
-- Serves as secondary backup support for GeoEx's front line operations. Receives, screens, and routes inbound telephone calls and office visitors. Refers or directs callers and visitors to appropriate staff members and expedites communications and referrals within the scope of authority. Personally answers routine inquiries and requests not requiring in this capacity that does not require detailed research or technical knowledge. Provides backup assistance for daily outbound mail (ongoing).

7. Research
-- Performs routine marketing research and analysis duties related to finding out the cost effectiveness of all marketing outreach efforts. This includes:
-- Monthly marketing management reports (sales and inquiry reports)
-- Annual marketing reports, including development of presentations for staff and the board.
-- Marketing research projects such as routine assessments of GeoEx's position in the marketplace and market trends (where GeoEx is weak and where are we strong; competitive analysis, product evaluation, development of strategic marketing opportunities and plans)

B. FACTORS

1. Knowledge Required by Position

Knowledge of the principles of basic English grammar, advanced composition and copy editing. Ability to write persuasive copy for the media and prospective travelers. The position also demands excellent verbal communication skills to deal effectively with the public

Thorough geographic knowledge of the areas that GeoEx serves including but not limited to scheduled departures, fit possibilities, location work and the intrinsic reasons why an individual may be interested in visiting a particular destination.

Working knowledge of direct mail marketing concepts, including creating leads, evaluating/rating/qualifying leads, development of targeted messages, fulfilling leads, building and maintaining mail database, delivery systems, converting prospects into sales and retaining customers, reporting and analysis of campaigns (this entail a basic working knowledge of statistical methods and analysis), data mining, list segmentation, predictive modeling (requiring knowledge of probability, statistics and regression analysis).  

Skill in applying public and media relations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the local and national media, special interest groups, staff and trip leaders.  Skill in organizing press events, receptions and special events.

Basic working knowledge of advertising concepts and principles, including placement strategy, ad budgeting, design and analysis, conventional reporting. 

Working knowledge of purchasing artwork and photography for print publication, including: copy writing basics and generally accepted principles in negotiating usage rights (e.g., placement on page, relative pricing for specific types of images).   

Ability to meet and deal with a wide variety of people in an effective and tactful manner; ability to speak before sizable audiences and to prepare and deliver polished and diverse presentations (including 15-30 minute slide presentations).


Broad and practical knowledge of general administrative concepts, methods and procedures. Operational knowledge of personal computers (word processing, spreadsheets and simple databases), copy and fax machines.

Fluency in basic statistical reporting and analysis (as relates to direct mail and advertising reporting).

2. Supervisory Controls

The President provides supervisory direction by making assignments in broad terms.  Supervisor assists the incumbent with unusual or controversial problems.

The incumbent is responsible for independently planning, designing, and implementing programs, projects, and other major functions. 

3. Guidelines

Incumbent uses judgment based on experience in applying guidelines to implement programs and stimulate interest in the company's activities.  Incumbent uses independent judgment in developing new programs.

4. Complexity

The diverse nature of the incumbent's responsibilities and functions requires the capacity to abstract, conceptualize, organize, and integrate different information into a coherent and practical frame of reference. The diverse range of travel services the company engages in contributes to a marketing complexity that requires and high level of skill and ability.

Assignment involves developing informational materials including the catalog, newsletter, news releases and feature articles and disseminating them, using a variety of standard written and interpersonal communication practices and techniques, analyzing needs, and determining appropriate approaches to use.

The incumbent determines appropriate communication methods and techniques to attain maximum effectiveness in written and oral presentations that meet the information needs of other agencies, media representatives, and state and local officials.  Modification of the standard methods and techniques is required to meet the needs of the organization.

The incumbent must deal with many projects simultaneously and respond to new projects and challenging deadlines of ongoing projects. Work accomplishment requires application of tact, originality, and ability to respond to unprecedented situations.

6. Personal Contacts

A broad range of organizations and individuals in both the public and private sectors; the general public; representatives of the local and national media; and vendors for various marketing related services.

7. Physical Demands

Work varies from being sedentary to rigorous touring and treks.

8. Work Environment

Incumbent is expected to be available during regular business days to address any operational issues.  Additionally, incumbent will be expected to attend period management-related meeting, events and conferences that may be outside normal business hours.

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.  Special safety precautions are necessary in outdoor settings to insure the employee?s and client's safety.

Worksite is in the San Francisco office, with occasional offsite meetings with the media and the Adventure Collection.

This role conducts research initiatives supporting both EA.com and the North American Publishing Division.


-	Work with internal team members of both EA.com and NAPD to develop research plans (focus groups, usability sessions, surveys, etc.) that meet their needs and goals.

-	Analyze and create monthly Pogo.com statistical reports.  Develop comprehensive monthly overview report.

-	Develop Monthly Competitive Gaming Report, examining traffic and trends of other gaming sites, as well as EA.com and Pogo.com.

-	Spearhead the aggregation and regular reporting of metrics associated with console and PC product registration.   Disseminate and present all relevant findings.

-	Create and code consumer surveys.  Analyze and disseminate findings.


<B>Qualifications:</B>

Proven mastery of on- and off-line market research.  Solid quantitative background with a demonstrated track record of designing and conducting survey research projects as well as qualitative research.

Support EA SPORTS brand, business and franchise objectives and strategies through creative and responsible public relations management of various sports game franchises (TBD) as well as other special projects.   Directly reports to P.R. Director.  Will also provide direction to the Public Relations Assistant on various projects and administrative duties.
Work in a team atmosphere in fast-pace environment, overseeing communications efforts to external media (writers and broadcasters), as well as internal marketing information and production groups.

•	Develop and manage all phases of product publicity including pre-launch, launch and post-launch. Draft extensive PR plan to be utilized throughout all phases.  Will manage the NBA LIVE, NBA Street, Def Jam Wrestling and SSX Tricky franchises.

•	Develop and maintain an extensive network of mass media, sport specific and game trade journalist contacts.

•	Work closely with franchise production teams. Develop relationship with production to have an open communication channel to deliver press feedback and to obtain product information.

•	Oversee event management for respective franchises by servicing media on-site at special events, photo shoots, interviews and press conferences.

•	Prepare follow-up communications when needed, including product materials, correspondence, monthly key accomplishment bullets, faxing, clip reports and filing.


<B>Essential Job Qualifications:</B>

•	Education/Work Experience:
