What I'm trying to play is a voice mail recording obtained through a ZyXEL Elite 2864i ISDN Modem/TA which records at 9600 samples per sec. The raw modem data is converted using rmdtopvf and pvftowav (both are in the mgetty+sendfax port) to a wav file. File(1) thinks the produced .wav file is: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 8 bit, mono 9600 Hz which looks OK to me. I then play the file using the play command which is a shell wrapper that comes with the sox port. This works fine with at least 4 other sound devices I tried so that's why I hoped it's something in the pcm driver that was corrected for your version of the ICH sound system but doesn't recognise mine. For now I can live with this, I just lie to play and tell it that the file is sampled at 8200 Hz. I don't care much about the audio quality as I just use it for listening at recorded voice mails, but perhapes other people get the same problem and do care. It doesn't -- neither to play CDs nor MP3s (cdcontrol play/mp3blaster). It worked long ago (freebsd 3.5 or so) and of course is find under W98. What's my problem? My only guess is that irq 11 is used by the NVidia in pci1 and irq 11 is also used by SBLive on pci0. I've no clue if this is a problem or, if so, how to overcome it. I'm running -STABLE with basically a GENERIC kernel (only mod is to shorten SCSI_DELAY & enable IPSEC). EMU10K is enabled via loader.conf. HELP! (bootup messages attached). Hi All,

I have a Pentium box with FreeBSD = 4.5=20 installed.
I like to capture the cotents of a = window for a few=20 seconds and make an mpg or avi out of it.
For example I like to make 10 sec clips = of Doom=20 while I'm playing.  I've heard of screencorder for windows; but = what's the=20 solution for FreeBSD?

Thanks in advance,
~koroush

The audio plays about 25% (by ear...) too slow, with any application. I think it may be CPU frequency-related, or real-time clock related, because of these observations: First thing I noticed is that dmesg shows the cpu detected as this: Timecounter "i8254" frequency 1193182 Hz Timecounter "TSC" frequency 233865878 Hz CPU: Cyrix 6x86MX (233.87-MHz 686-class CPU) Origin = "CyrixInstead" Id = 0x601 Stepping = 1 DIR=0x1454 Features=0x80a135 and audio pcm0: at port 0x534-0x537,0x388-0x38b,0x220-0x22f irq 5 drq 1,0 on isa0 although the board is set to 300MHz. The CPU is 300MHz. Either letting the board detect the cpu and setting core voltage, multiplier, bus freq, etc. , or setting the jumpers manually gives this output from freebsd at boot time. The BIOS detects the CPU correctly as 300MHz though, and displays this at boot time. Once, I got a message at boot time of (I paraphrase since I have not seen it again) RTC: error 20(config) I tried setting the cpu to different, lower frequencies, but the slow audio still happens, and the TSC frequency reported is always off by a factor of about 25%. Any idea what is really going on here ? Is it a bug of Cyrix CPUs (or CS4235)? Any way to force detection of the right frequency ? Any help greatly appreciated... bruno To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-multimedia" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-multimedia Sat Apr 27 19:20:42 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mired.org (dsl-64-192-6-133.telocity.com [64.192.6.133]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 0460637B419 for ; Sat, 27 Apr 2002 19:20:37 -0700 (PDT) Received: (qmail 20632 invoked by uid 100); 28 Apr 2002 02:20:30 -0000 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-ID: <15563.23661.831641.57309@guru.mired.org> Date: Sat, 27 Apr 2002 21:20:29 -0500 To: multimedia@freebsd.org Subject: ohphone vs. netmetting.
