You can see the details at http://www.acatysmoof.com/ffmpeg This port was made from the cvs snapshot from 2002-07-21 10:40:00 PST. In summary: - 20% CPU usage reduction from Steve's new grab code. by capturing in YUV instead of the v4l BGR default. lower CPU usage achieved by incorporating a modified yuv422_to_yuv420p directly in grab.c and returning 420p which is what the codecs eat. - Sorenson v1 decode support. - Largefile support eliminates the 2Gb barrier on filesizes Let me know it goes. Hmm, if Alsa is mainly something like an API userland | kernel --------------------------------+---------------- application -> Alsa lib -> Alsa driver Wouldn't it be possible to make a compatibility library (libalsa) under BSD that translates ALSA function calls into OSS kernel functions ? application (linked with libalsa) | BSD pcm driver O.k., this way you couldn't run Linux binaries, but would have a chance to re-compile and run the ALSA based application. I get warnings during the configure and when I check config.log I see these messages : (...) configure:8107: ogg/ogg.h: No such file or director (...) configure:8191: vorbis/codec.h: No such file or directory (...) However these files are present in /usr/local/include which seems to be where they must be when I look at `./configure --help`. Well I don't know where to add it. I've tried to specify include directory with --includedir flag of the ./configure, but not more succesfully. I thinks something is wrong with my ogg-vorbis header files because if I try to compile a .c file containing the single line: #include It fails with complaining that it can't find the file. But the file is really here. Yes, because /usr/local/include is not in the system compiler's default include search path. -- Christian "naddy" Weisgerber naddy@mips.inka.de To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-multimedia" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-multimedia Fri Jul 26 9:17:28 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.FreeBSD.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9E4C937B400 for ; Fri, 26 Jul 2002 09:17:26 -0700 (PDT) Received: from bern.alpage.org (alpage.org [62.212.116.10]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4599B43E3B for ; Fri, 26 Jul 2002 09:17:25 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from al@alpage.org) Received: from bern.alpage.org (localhost.alpage.org [127.0.0.1]) by bern.alpage.org (8.12.3/8.11.6/Rhizome Courriel System) with ESMTP id g6QGHO5n039605 (using TLSv1/SSLv3 with cipher EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA (168 bits) verified NO) for ; Fri, 26 Jul 2002 18:17:24 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from al@bern.alpage.org) X-Authentication-Warning: bern.alpage.org: Host localhost.alpage.org [127.0.0.1] claimed to be bern.alpage.org Received: (from al@localhost) by bern.alpage.org (8.12.3/8.12.2/Submit) id g6QGHMQI039604 for multimedia@freebsd.org; Fri, 26 Jul 2002 18:17:22 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from al) Date: Fri, 26 Jul 2002 18:17:22 +0200 From: Alex Marandon To: multimedia@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Installing xmms with ogg support Message-ID: <20020726181722.A39581@alpage.org> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5.1i Sender: owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org On Fri, Jul 26, 2002 at 02:30:55PM +0000, Christian Weisgerber wrote: > Alex Marandon wrote: > > I have a problem to compile xmms with ogg-vorbis support. > > > > I can't install with FreeBSD port because it fails while building > > gnome-core so I try to install from sources. > > Instead I suggest that you build the port with WITHOUT_GNOME=yes. So now it time to tune it up and make it scream. Beyond kernel configs and installing all the toys, I really want to get some things tightened up. I have on board sound and while it plays back with no problem the quality is not there. Distortion at semi high volumes and overall mediocre performance. I am assuming the latest VIA drivers are installed? Is this something that I should start looking at? Okay so #2 I have the ATI Rage 128 AGP video card. again it's performing just fine expect I can't seem to get 32 bit color out of it. I am up to 24 before it complains. The only reason I expect 32 is because I see that it's being done in other machines. I tried playing back a mpg file with the KDE installed media player and the performance was horrible. Any ideas on what a high performance multimedia player might be? Thanks!!! To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-multimedia" in the body of the message
