kern.flp is correct, but the second floppy containing the OS installer
is called "mfsroot.flp".  (mfs = memory filesystem). I suspect your
text above was merely a typo. And, this OS is called FreeBSD, not
FreeDos, thanks :-)

Your message is simply too terse for me to help you. "Don't have
anything in them" could mean dozens of things. How did you download
them? Or do you have a FreeBSD CD-ROM? How did you write the image
files to floppy disks? How and at what point did you determine that
they "[didn't] have anything in them"?

Have you read and followed the installation instructions in the
FreeBSD handbook?
