They are pushing services that help reach the correct target audience, promoting that it is environmentally friendly. You'll also notice the website has trees all over. The kicker is, the brochure is super heavy duty paper, very thick, very large brochure. Lots of trees died for this mailing about being environmentally friendly. Anyhow, they will pick one entry to give $10,000 to the charity of their choice. The FreeBSD Foundation is a non-profit, so it should be applicabley. Also it'd be nice to have money given to the Foundation so they can finish the work on native java binaries. It appears anyone can fill out the form, as even their guest account offers ways to have a charity receive money. If enough people enter to swing the odds in FreeBSD's favor, that'd be a great headline to see "Microsoft helps fund development of Java running on Open Source" Oh, and in all of the questions asking about which operating system various applications run on (Web servers, messaging, etc) you'll have to be answering "Other" a whole lot. They kinda forgot to include FreeBSD as an option, along with postfix, etc... Second, a FQDN has a trailing period, so even if the URL my browser got was "http://www.getbettermail.com./" it should have been resolved properly. The browser I use (Opera) does resolve FQDNs properly. The problem is with the server hosting getbettermail.com. IIS fails to properly interpret the trailing period and returns the "No web site configured" error. Of course, Apache doesn't have this problem. FWIW, www.getbettermail.com seems to have come alive again. I just tried in Phoenix/Firebird and also got the "No web site..." message. IE6 just returns it's boring ol' 404 page. Oh, and I was using a conventional URL that any server should understand. >FWIW, www.getbettermail.com seems to have come alive again. Well, adding the www. returns 500 errors in both Phoenix and IE6 here. I'm so impressed by all this I'm thinking I'll bin those pesky FreeBSD machines and migrate to IIS! :-) Kevin -- kevin@caomhin.demon.co.uk From owner-freebsd-chat@FreeBSD.ORG Thu May 1 13:39:12 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-chat@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1F4FB37B401; Thu, 1 May 2003 13:39:12 -0700 (PDT) Received: from flood.ping.uio.no (flood.ping.uio.no [129.240.78.31]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 43DA743F85; Thu, 1 May 2003 13:39:11 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from des@ofug.org) Received: by flood.ping.uio.no (Postfix, from userid 2602) id 5D8B25310; Thu, 1 May 2003 22:39:09 +0200 (CEST) X-URL: http://www.ofug.org/~des/ X-Disclaimer: The views expressed in this message do not necessarily coincide with those of any organisation or company with which I am or have been affiliated. It has a 700mhz cpu & fan, floppy drive, LAN/Modem, PS2, Svideo, vga, USB (1), parallel, and serial ports. It came out of a good machine that got munched (the case) by UPS. It's been working fine since new a couple years ago. This was a dual-boot machine running linux and win2k. The hard drive and cdrw drive had to be kept for spares. Any offers? -- Chip chip@wiegand.org . Then after the 24 months that code becomes part of the public code base. I read a magazine article saying that the BSD license does this 24 month innovations claim.
