I assume you will be using the GB encoding? Or possibly Unicode? For GB, the proper path name for your project would be : 'zh_CN.GB' The pathname for the traditional chinese documentation is 'zh_TW.BIG5'. > And, I noticed that one of your translation projects is Chinese > Documentation Project, currently maintained by people from Taiwan and in > Chinese Traditional. In addition, pratically, Soft Updates will be better in many aspects, I guess this is the primary reason why there is not a LFS support available. I think it will be valuable to have a read-only LFS support in FreeBSD. However, I don't think it's a heavily desireable feature, because Soft Updates does well in most cases. -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org [mailto:owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org] On Behalf Of Shen Lily Sent: Monday, November 03, 2003 4:34 PM To: doc@FreeBSD.org Subject: Why does freebsd not support it? > I read some papers that say LFS has superiority over FFS in some aspect. > Why does freebsd not support it? GBK) and GB18030. As the latest national standard, all OSs shipping in China would be forced to support GB18030. As I know, glibc has supported GB18030 already, but standard XFree86 has no GB18030 yet, only GB2312 and GBK. Some Linux distribution have patched XFree86 and support GB18030, but no more details were found. Should we set doc path to zh_CN.GB18030 or just zh_CN.GB? I am looking for information for GB18030 supports in FreeBSD, as soon as I get a solution, I will send related staffs to freebsd-i18n@freebsd.org. zh_CN.UTF-8 also possible, but I don't know whether docproj ports support Unicode encoding or not, and I am afraid that if we use Unicode may cause some incompatible problems with other documentation projects. Another simple way is just use zh_CN.GB2312, the standard encoding in xml and almost all web sites still use 'charset=gb2312' as HTML encoding. In FreeBSD, zh_CN.eucCN is the same thing of zh_CN.GB2312. Any comments? Greetings, LI Dong > The second component of the path name should specify the encoding you > are using for simplified Chinese. These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. SDP section should be updated to document sdpcontrol usage, which is now in base, instead of sdptool (ports/ in your snapshot). Do we have sdpd in base? Otherwise it looks good, I like a short explanation paragraphs at the beginning of every section. --=20 Pav Lucistnik What do we know about love? Love is like a pear. Do we have sdpd > in base? new sdpd is not in the base yet. util its ready, i'd like users to continue to use BlueZ sdp package. otherwise it might be confusing for the users when to use which utility. that is why i did not rewrite this. also all userspace tools can now talk SDP, i.e. rfcomm_{s,p}ppd(8) and obexapp(1). so if you are only use bluetooth as client there should not be much use for sdpcontrol. > Otherwise it looks good, I like a short explanation paragraphs at the > beginning of every section. cool. thanks, max __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? +October 10, 2003: Greg +Lewis has released the fourth patchset (patchlevel 4) for the &jdk; 1.4 +software. The code is now suitable for most applications, although it does +still contain some problems. Browser plugin support works, GCC 3.3 is +supported and many bugfixes are included. This patchset is the +result of a lot of hard work by the BSD Java Porting Team and continued +support from the FreeBSD Foundation. Information on downloading the patchset +can be found at +http://www.eyesbeyond.com/freebsddom/java/jdk14.html. +

But... http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ipsec.html Point 10.10.3.1 when talking about gif devices first command mentioned is gifconfig. But it produces following error on my machine: gifconfig: interface gif0 does not exist After googling for some time I've found the solution: use 'ifconfig gif0 create' just before. I've disabled that in the kernel (I survived without it for years, so no reason to have it as part of my upgrade). I clocked up about 15 hours trying to debug this problem - that would have been cut down to about 30 mins had this been in the FAQ. Can someone please add this side effect of ipv6 on ppp to FAQ 14.17 or alternatively I am happy to volunteer to do it myself? There again if someone knows a cunning way to make ppp and ipv6 sit happily together that might be a better way forward... Thanks, David. I've installed the docproj port and the /usr/doc source and can build all the existing documentation fine. My documents are using DocBook 4.2 (the stock one), which the docproj port only installs as an XML DTD. Which is fine, since I would prefer to use XML over SGML since that appears to be the direction DocBook is going. I have my Makefile set up as: DOC_PREFIX = /usr/doc DOC = book DOCBOOKSUFFIX = .xml SRCS = book.xml \ part1/magnetism.xml part1/energy.xml part1/matter.xml \ part1/emf.xml part1/conservation.xml \ part2/acdc.xml \ biblio/biblio.xml STYLESHEET_TYPE = xsl FORMATS = html html-split .include "/usr/doc/share/mk/doc.project.mk" My reading through doc.docbook.mk seems to indicate this should work. By setting the stylesheet type to xsl, the makefile automatically selects ${DOC}.xml as the source and the xsltproc utilities. But I get: Graph cycles through book.xml and make dies. Is this a known issue, and if so, is it something you would like fixed? However, the makefiles assume that the source document is in SGML format and needs to be converted to XML format first. This step itself is actually broken, as it assumes the document has a root node of , which is not always the case. As it stands, there's no way around this problem because using a pre- make XML file fails for the reason below. If the source document is already in XML format, this step is not needed, and in fact causes a cyclic dependancy of the master document on itself. With this patch applied, one can use either the XML or SGML forms of the DocBook DTD. The patch also fixes a bug in the XSLT processing which fails to generate the HTML.manifest document, even though it assumes the file is present during `make clean` and while running tidy. >How-To-Repeat: --- Makefile: DOC= article DOCBOOKSUFFIX= xml STYLESHEET_TYPE= xsl SRCS= article.xml .include "/usr/doc/share/mk/doc.project.mk" ~: $ make Graph cycles through article.xml. >Fix: --- docbook.patch begins here --- --- doc.docbook.mk.orig Thu Oct 2 15:46:49 2003 +++ doc.docbook.mk Fri Nov 7 17:19:50 2003 @@ -349,7 +349,11 @@ .endif .if (${STYLESHEET_TYPE} == "xsl") +.if ${DOCBOOKSUFFIX} != "xml" CLEANFILES+= ${DOC}.xml .sxerr +.else +CLEANFILE+= .sxerr +.endif .endif .if (${LOCAL_CSS_SHEET} != ${CSS_SHEET}) && \ @@ -421,10 +425,14 @@ # # Better approaches to handling this would be most welcome +# If our master doc is already ${DOC}.xml then we don't need this next +# part.
