This is a namespace clash, since it interferes with variors userspace programs (ie. ELink-CVS) and presence of this symbol is not defined in any standard. The macro should me moved to the system namespace by prefixing it with __ or the namespace clash should be fixed in some other way. Reported by Petr Baudis , he couldn't report by himself as he has no access to a FreeBSD system personally and the web interface is not working. >Description: >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jun 5 20:50:12 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-i386@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CB75337B401 for ; Thu, 5 Jun 2003 20:50:12 -0700 (PDT) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C1D2143FBD for ; Thu, 5 Jun 2003 20:50:11 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.12.9/8.12.9) with ESMTP id h563oBUp028331 for ; Thu, 5 Jun 2003 20:50:11 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.12.9/8.12.9/Submit) id h563oBTo028330; Thu, 5 Jun 2003 20:50:11 -0700 (PDT) Resent-Date: Thu, 5 Jun 2003 20:50:11 -0700 (PDT) Resent-Message-Id: <200306060350.h563oBTo028330@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, Garrett Wollman Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B00E437B401 for ; Thu, 5 Jun 2003 20:43:32 -0700 (PDT) Received: from mintaka.lcs.mit.edu (mintaka.lcs.mit.edu [18.26.0.36]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EAB6C43F3F for ; Thu, 5 Jun 2003 20:43:31 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from wollman@hergotha.lcs.mit.edu) Received: from hergotha.lcs.mit.edu (hergotha.lcs.mit.edu [18.23.11.98]) by mintaka.lcs.mit.edu (8.12.8p1/8.12.8) with ESMTP id h563hU0L050067 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NO) for ; Thu, 5 Jun 2003 23:43:30 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from wollman@hergotha.lcs.mit.edu) Received: (from wollman@localhost) by hergotha.lcs.mit.edu (8.12.9/8.12.9/Submit) id h563hTcB073887; Thu, 5 Jun 2003 23:43:29 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from wollman) Message-Id: <200306060343.h563hTcB073887@hergotha.lcs.mit.edu> Date: Thu, 5 Jun 2003 23:43:29 -0400 (EDT) From: Garrett Wollman To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: 3.113 Subject: i386/52975: CPUTYPE=k7 results in non-functional /boot/loader X-BeenThere: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list Reply-To: Garrett Wollman List-Id: I386-specific issues for FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 06 Jun 2003 03:50:13 -0000 >Number: 52975 >Category: i386 >Synopsis: CPUTYPE=k7 results in non-functional /boot/loader >Confidential: no >Severity: serious >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-i386 >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Thu Jun 05 20:50:11 PDT 2003 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Garrett Wollman >Release: FreeBSD 5.1-BETA i386 >Organization: MIT Laboratory for Computer Science >Environment: System: FreeBSD hergotha.lcs.mit.edu 5.1-BETA FreeBSD 5.1-BETA #16: Sun Jun 1 22:15:28 EDT 2003 root@hergotha.lcs.mit.edu:/usr/src/sys/i386/compile/HERGOTHA i386 >Description: CPUTYPE=k7 results in a boot loader that doesn't. Workaround is: Add NO_CPU_CFLAGS=yo to /sys/boot/Makefile.inc and /sys/boot/i386/Makefile.inc This generates a working boot loader. I suspect that the compiler may be generating code to use vector instructions somewhere, but these instructions do not work in the boot loader's environment. >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Jun 6 12:05:15 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5B4F837B4C7; Fri, 6 Jun 2003 12:05:15 -0700 (PDT) Received: from cueball.rtp.FreeBSD.org (cueball.rtp.FreeBSD.org [192.58.184.37]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9DA1543FA3; Fri, 6 Jun 2003 12:05:14 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from des+tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: from cueball.rtp.FreeBSD.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) h56J4QkF089355; Fri, 6 Jun 2003 15:04:26 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from des+tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: (from des@localhost) by cueball.rtp.FreeBSD.org (8.12.9/8.12.9/Submit) id h56J4P29089354; Fri, 6 Jun 2003 19:04:25 GMT (envelope-from des+tinderbox@freebsd.org) Date: Fri, 6 Jun 2003 19:04:25 GMT Message-Id: <200306061904.h56J4P29089354@cueball.rtp.FreeBSD.org> X-Authentication-Warning: cueball.rtp.FreeBSD.org: des set sender to Tinderbox using -f Sender: Tinderbox From: Tinderbox To: current@freebsd.org, i386@freebsd.org Subject: [-CURRENT tinderbox] failure on i386/pc98 X-BeenThere: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: I386-specific issues for FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 06 Jun 2003 19:05:15 -0000 TB --- 2003-06-06 18:49:32 - starting CURRENT tinderbox run for i386/pc98 TB --- 2003-06-06 18:49:32 - checking out the source tree TB --- cd /home/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98 TB --- /usr/bin/cvs -f -R -q -d/home/ncvs update -Pd -A src TB --- 2003-06-06 18:51:51 - building world TB --- cd /home/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src TB --- /usr/bin/make -B buildworld >>> Rebuilding the temporary build tree >>> stage 1: legacy release compatibility shims >>> stage 1: bootstrap tools >>> stage 2: cleaning up the object tree >>> stage 2: rebuilding the object tree >>> stage 2: build tools >>> stage 3: cross tools >>> stage 4: populating /home/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/obj/pc98/vol/vol0/users/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src/i386/usr/include >>> stage 4: building libraries [...] cc -O -pipe -mcpu=pentiumpro -D_IEEE_LIBM -D_ARCH_INDIRECT=i387_ -std=gnu99 -c /vol/vol0/users/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src/lib/msun/src/w_y1.c -o w_y1.o cc -O -pipe -mcpu=pentiumpro -D_IEEE_LIBM -D_ARCH_INDIRECT=i387_ -std=gnu99 -c /vol/vol0/users/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src/lib/msun/src/w_y1f.c -o w_y1f.o cc -O -pipe -mcpu=pentiumpro -D_IEEE_LIBM -D_ARCH_INDIRECT=i387_ -std=gnu99 -c /vol/vol0/users/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src/lib/msun/src/w_yn.c -o w_yn.o cc -O -pipe -mcpu=pentiumpro -D_IEEE_LIBM -D_ARCH_INDIRECT=i387_ -std=gnu99 -c /vol/vol0/users/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src/lib/msun/src/w_ynf.c -o w_ynf.o cc -O -pipe -mcpu=pentiumpro -D_IEEE_LIBM -D_ARCH_INDIRECT=i387_ -std=gnu99 -c i387_e_acos.S -o i387_e_acos.o {standard input}: Assembler messages: {standard input}:19: Error: junk `(__ieee754_acos)' after expression {standard input}:19: Error: junk `(__ieee754_acos)' after expression *** Error code 1 Stop in /vol/vol0/users/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src/lib/msun. *** Error code 1 Stop in /vol/vol0/users/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /vol/vol0/users/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /vol/vol0/users/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /vol/vol0/users/des/tinderbox/CURRENT/i386/pc98/src.
