A small high-tech financial company seeks an experienced system
administrator to manage a growing network of intensively-used FreeBSD
machines. Solid knowledge of Unix and networking with 2-5 years of
experience
required.
Tasks will include:
- monitoring a live trading network and overseeing general system
operation.
- planning and implementing solutions for expanding storage and
network.
- system troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
- Experience with Unix systems administration; knowledge of
FreeBSD is a big plus.
- Ability and resourcefulness to figure out and solve unusual
problems, including the ability to tune FreeBSD kernel and
examine kernel code.
- Knowledge of scripting languages including perl and basic shell
languages. Familiarity with C++ is a plus.
- Understanding of file systems, RAIDs, CISCO switches,
TCP/IP and multicast.
- Communication skills and willingness to deal with third parties
to install and troubleshoot problems with hardware and data
lines.
