Not only did the RAID take 2x longer to build than when running on a different OS, but performance became very poor once the RAID was built (1-2MB/sec transfer rates in/out). jd@aurora.org From owner-freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Mon May 24 09:41:07 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-i386@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6243916A4CE for ; Mon, 24 May 2004 09:41:07 -0700 (PDT) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3DD2B43D46 for ; Mon, 24 May 2004 09:41:07 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) i4OGeG7M068167 for ; Mon, 24 May 2004 09:40:16 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.12.11/8.12.11/Submit) id i4OGeGjU068166; Mon, 24 May 2004 09:40:16 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Mon, 24 May 2004 09:40:16 -0700 (PDT) Resent-Message-Id: <200405241640.i4OGeGjU068166@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, John Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3096416A4D0 for ; Mon, 24 May 2004 09:32:10 -0700 (PDT) Received: from www.freebsd.org (www.freebsd.org [216.136.204.117]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 132B343D31 for ; Mon, 24 May 2004 09:32:10 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by www.freebsd.org (8.12.11/8.12.11) with ESMTP id i4OGVY80008220 for ; Mon, 24 May 2004 09:31:34 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from nobody@www.freebsd.org) Received: (from nobody@localhost) by www.freebsd.org (8.12.11/8.12.11/Submit) id i4OGVYmf008219; Mon, 24 May 2004 09:31:34 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from nobody) Message-Id: <200405241631.i4OGVYmf008219@www.freebsd.org> Date: Mon, 24 May 2004 09:31:34 -0700 (PDT) From: John To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: www-2.3 Subject: i386/67129: Connecting to internet through wireless router X-BeenThere: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: I386-specific issues for FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 24 May 2004 16:41:07 -0000 >Number: 67129 >Category: i386 >Synopsis: Connecting to internet through wireless router >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-i386 >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Mon May 24 09:40:16 PDT 2004 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: John >Release: 5.2.1 >Organization: >Environment: FreeBSD Punisher 5.2.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.2.1-RELEASE #0: Mon May 24 09:28:01 CDT 2004 root@Punisher:/user/src/i386/compile/PUNISHER i386 >Description: Connection to the internet through a wireless router does not work. I find that I have repeated and reproducible problems getting shared libs to be made on many ports. This causes upgrade processes to break when the libs can't be found. The installation process marks everything as installed but if I make a package (thereby invoking use of the packing list) I discover that the build didn't actually work. I can sometimes finesse it by replacing libtool 1.3 with 1.5 in the Makefile, but not 100% of the time. I am not sure if it's just libtool or pkgconfig. >How-To-Repeat: see the attached build output: I have been using make distclean to make sure there is no lingering cruft at the root of this.
