I am unsure of which driver it loads but dmesg reports: pcm0: port 0x8400-0x84ff mem 0xd0008000-0xd0008fff irq 11 at device 8.0 on pci0 pcm0: I then open XMMS and attempt to play a MP3. I have tried various MP3s. All files play fine for 15 seconds, mixer works too, and then it stops: the audio stops, XMMS stops counting. This occurs with other audio applications as well, and audio will not work without a reboot of the notebook. I have tried unloading and reloading the driver but this does not solve the problem. eMachines reports the sound on this m2350 notebook to be a "2001 compliant AC97 audio controller". I have not been able to test this under FreeBSD 5.3 because FreeBSD 5.3's installer has trouble mounting the drive and will not install (seperate bug). >How-To-Repeat: Boot FreeBSD 5.2 on an eMachines m2350. As root, type kldload snd_driver. Open XMMS, play any file (you can use other audio applications as well). After 15 seconds, the counter will stop. The application does not freeze, but will not play anymore data. >Fix: Reboot, but this only recycles the bug such that you get another 15 seconds of audio. >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Nov 21 16:00:48 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1C4D116A4D4 for ; Sun, 21 Nov 2004 16:00:48 +0000 (GMT) Received: from smtp803.mail.sc5.yahoo.com (smtp803.mail.sc5.yahoo.com [66.163.168.182]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 63EB843E96 for ; Sun, 21 Nov 2004 16:00:46 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from dcpaq2@sbcglobal.net) Received: from unknown (HELO dougu0f91qlf94) (dcpaq2@sbcglobal.net@68.77.32.1 with login) by smtp803.mail.sc5.yahoo.com with SMTP; 21 Nov 2004 16:00:34 -0000 Message-ID: <001701c4cfe3$3e0c8430$0201a8c0@dougu0f91qlf94> From: "Doug Paquette" To: "Free BSD I386 List" Date: Sun, 21 Nov 2004 10:00:36 -0600 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="----=_NextPart_000_0014_01C4CFB0.F2E2F390" X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2180 X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.1 Subject: Warning Message Showing up on install X-BeenThere: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: I386-specific issues for FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 21 Nov 2004 16:00:48 -0000 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0014_01C4CFB0.F2E2F390 Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; reply-type=original Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Group, I have a warning messaeg showing up on my computer when trying to install Free BSD 4.9 on an IDE hard drive and cannot for the life of me figure out what is causing this. Thanks much Doug ------=_NextPart_000_0033_01C4CFB6.3B6FD9C0-- From owner-freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Nov 21 19:40:26 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-i386@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6CDC116A4CE for ; Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:40:26 +0000 (GMT) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 362A743D55 for ; Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:40:26 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id iALJeQDS043708 for ; Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:40:26 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1/Submit) id iALJeQB3043707; Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:40:26 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:40:26 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <200411211940.iALJeQB3043707@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, Alexei Tolkachev Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8441F16A4CE for ; Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:34:31 +0000 (GMT) Received: from www.freebsd.org (www.freebsd.org [216.136.204.117]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6FD7F43D46 for ; Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:34:31 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by www.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id iALJYVri011582 for ; Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:34:31 GMT (envelope-from nobody@www.freebsd.org) Received: (from nobody@localhost) by www.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1/Submit) id iALJYUt3011581; Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:34:30 GMT (envelope-from nobody) Message-Id: <200411211934.iALJYUt3011581@www.freebsd.org> Date: Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:34:30 GMT From: Alexei Tolkachev To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: www-2.3 Subject: i386/74211: USB flash drive causes CAM status 0x4 on 4.10Release X-BeenThere: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: I386-specific issues for FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 21 Nov 2004 19:40:26 -0000 >Number: 74211 >Category: i386 >Synopsis: USB flash drive causes CAM status 0x4 on 4.10Release >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: medium >Responsible: freebsd-i386 >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: change-request >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Sun Nov 21 19:40:25 GMT 2004 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Alexei Tolkachev >Release: FreeBSD 4.10-RELEASE #3 >Organization: RCS >Environment: FreeBSD g.com.ua 4.10-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.10-RELEASE #3: Fri Nov 5 07:42:15 EET 2004 root@.g.com.ua:/usr/src/sys/cmpile/KERN1 i386 >Description: Hello!
