It appears, Gentoo has bitten the bullet and solved the problems related to building OOo with gcc-3.4.x. Attached are the diffs, that 1. make use of their work; 2. use system's nas, curl, zlib, freetype, mspack, and -- most importantly -- stlport; 3. build OOo-1.1.4. My build is not over yet, but has already gone pretty far :-) Can you, please, take a look at these too? Once this works, I think, it is imperative to have the port use all other components, that are installed already (Python, db4, icu, sablotron, expat, etc.), and obey the system's CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS. Okay, this is one of the major part of your upgrade. Can we sure this version of gcc works? My concern is, how do we take care of them? Building OOo is always fragile. Please imagine if STLport is upgraded and break OOo build. Or a situation STLport cannot be upgraded since it can broke OOo build. Well, it can be done by setting MAINTAINER as openoffice@freebsd.org so that we can control everything :) however this costs too much for me. > 3. build OOo-1.1.4. Wonderful! The only remarkable anomaly I could find, was a core dump (lzip.core) in work/OOo_1.1.4_src/instsetoo/util, same happend for the openoffice-1.1-devel port. I'm running 5.3-STABLE #0: Sun Dec 26 17:44:27 CET 2004, w/ all port dependencies compiled from scratch. I also tried to compile openoffice-1.1-devel w/ flag WITH_DEBUG=2 set, but the build failed somewhere else. These two make variables enable it to completely build, but then the installation fails, apparently because it wants an 'install' executable which is not available: ===> Checking if editors/openoffice-1.1 already installed # # UGLY hack to not have to specify a X-Display. # /usr/X11R6/bin/Xvfb :1001 -screen 0 800x600x24 > /dev/null 2>&1 & echo $! > /usr/ports/editors/openoffice-1.1/work/.Xvfb.pid ./install: not found *** Error code 127 I'd be very happy to get this port installed.
