I personally vote to add for all new versions of p5-* modules next line to Makefile: DIST_SUBDIR= perl5 This transition is transparent enough for end-users. Massive one-stage change for all p5-ports will produce unnecessary distfiles refetching. I suppose we must make decision about this PR. This proposal can be official policy or should be rejected with justification for refusal. Technically every maintainer can add your own DIST_SUBDIR lines without any violations of "Porters handbook". One more argument to accept explicit p5-subdir is simple consideration to avoid collisions with other languages. Currently this is not the case but I think this approach must be standard for all "dynamic" languages like Perl, Python and Ruby (or, even C# ;) -- Sergey Skvortsov mailto: skv@protey.ru From owner-freebsd-perl@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 13 11:04:07 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-perl@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5EB5616A4CE for ; Mon, 13 Dec 2004 11:04:07 +0000 (GMT) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3C65543D41 for ; Mon, 13 Dec 2004 11:04:07 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@freebsd.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (peter@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id iBDB469S076748 for ; Mon, 13 Dec 2004 11:04:06 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@freebsd.org) Received: (from peter@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1/Submit) id iBDB45tp076742 for perl@freebsd.org; Mon, 13 Dec 2004 11:04:05 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@freebsd.org) Date: Mon, 13 Dec 2004 11:04:05 GMT Message-Id: <200412131104.iBDB45tp076742@freefall.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: freefall.freebsd.org: peter set sender to owner-bugmaster@freebsd.org using -f From: FreeBSD bugmaster To: perl@FreeBSD.org Subject: Current problem reports assigned to you X-BeenThere: freebsd-perl@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: maintainer of a number of perl-related ports List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 13 Dec 2004 11:04:07 -0000 Current FreeBSD problem reports Critical problems Serious problems S Submitted Tracker Resp. Current spamd uses changing euid/uid like this: $> = $uuid; # effective uid $< = $uuid; # real uid. we now cannot setuid anymore But changing effective uid from root to specified user causes impossible to change real uid lator. The problem of this is, when forked spamd child finishes first process, effective uid is back to root, rather than keeping specified user id. On my box, this patch seems to work fine. How about adding this patch?
