The correct syntax now seems to be e.g.: fixed-9:width=semicondensed:weight=bold used with either the XClock*Face widget (not Font) in ~/.Xdefaults or ~/.Xresources, or with the '-fa' flag to xclock(1). The following url (thank you, Google) is where I found out: HTH -- Martin Karlsson From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Apr 30 00:20:35 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5F45816A4CE for ; Fri, 30 Apr 2004 00:20:35 -0700 (PDT) Received: from mailscan1.newmedia.no (mailscan1.newmedia.no [212.71.66.8]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 4909E43D1D for ; Fri, 30 Apr 2004 00:20:34 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from arvinn@sandakerveien.net) Received: (qmail 20197 invoked by uid 105); 30 Apr 2004 07:20:32 -0000 Received: from arvinn@sandakerveien.net by mailscan1 with qmail-scanner-1.01 (iscan: v3.1/v5.420-0629/877/50627. sweep: 2.4/3.47. hbedv: 6.2.0.3. fsecure: 4.08/2030/2004-04-28/2004-04-27/2002-11-17. . [Cc:ed to gnats so others can find this in the PR database] I think so. I looked at the xclock manpage for XFree86-4.4.0 * (which is newer than whats in the ports tree), and found that you can use the flag '-norender' to xclock. With that, you should be able to use your familiar way of specifying the font to use. An example: $ xclock -norender -d -font 12x24 I've tried it, and it works for me. HTH * -- Martin Karlsson
