A standard "make deinstall", "make reinstall" fails at the same point each time. I only noticed the problem as a result of trying to upgrade a fresh install's Gnome installation to 2.6 using the FreeBSD Gnome team's script. That procedure died trying to update this port, which led me to try to do things manually to no avail. What information can I provide that might help track down my problem? You might also consider using portupgrade (sysutils/portupgrade), which will help you upgrading ports and their dependencies. This sure looks like the symptoms of agp initialization coming after (or not at all), but if you say your agp is loaded and attached, I'm not sure how that would happen. -- Eric Anholt eta@lclark.edu http://people.freebsd.org/~anholt/ anholt@FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Sep 8 08:44:02 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3A4A516A4CE; Wed, 8 Sep 2004 08:44:02 +0000 (GMT) Received: from kurush.osdn.org.ua (external.osdn.org.ua [212.40.34.156]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BA8B543D1D; Wed, 8 Sep 2004 08:43:58 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from never@kurush.osdn.org.ua) Received: from kurush.osdn.org.ua (never@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by kurush.osdn.org.ua (8.12.8p2/8.12.8) with ESMTP id i888hrkt008877; Wed, 8 Sep 2004 11:43:53 +0300 (EEST) (envelope-from never@kurush.osdn.org.ua) Received: (from never@localhost) by kurush.osdn.org.ua (8.12.8p2/8.12.8/Submit) id i888hrfQ008870; Wed, 8 Sep 2004 11:43:53 +0300 (EEST) (envelope-from never) Date: Wed, 8 Sep 2004 11:43:52 +0300 From: Alexandr Kovalenko To: freebsd-current@freebsd.org Message-ID: <20040908084352.GB69729@nevermind.kiev.ua> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=koi8-r Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.4i X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new cc: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Subject: X11 driver not configured with OpenGL X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 08 Sep 2004 08:44:02 -0000 I'm trying to run neverball (ports/games/neverball), which is OpenGL 3D game. It will be soon. When it is, I do plan on updating our ports as soon as possible. This probably won't happen for 5.3, unless things go spectacularly well and portmgr agrees. But it fails to start with error message: >> >> $ neverball neverball: X11 driver not configured with OpenGL >> >> I'm using 5.2.1-RELEASE with nVidia binary drivers >> nvidia-driver-1.0.6113, but the same effect was with older drivers. >> >> Please, help me to undertand what direction should I dig to? >> I think there was a version of the nvidia driver in the ports tree that didn't install the glx module correctly. I ran into the same problem earlier and a portupgrade -f nvidia-driver fixed the problem. You can also check your X log to see if the glx module failed to load (mine had old symbols in it). Portmgr will not approve an update pre-5.3 unless re@ agrees to it as well. That said, even after the tree thaws, there will be no major updates allowed (include X.Org) until after 5.3 is released. This is to ensure we can fix any last-minute package problems. Only security and other fixes deemed 'critical' are being allowed in the tree at the moment. In addition, any port like this which will affect so many users needs some testing before it is committed to the tree. One of the most active members of this list is also conributing directly to the X.org codebase, so he's aware of the release status, of course. mcl From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Sep 10 I've placed X log at http://www.math.uic.edu/~vladimir/Xorg.0.log and the screen dump at http://www.math.uic.edu/~vladimir/screendump.jpg Have a look at the small xterm window on the left hand side of the screen. It has parts of the bigger background window visible on it after being moved around a couple of times. Scrolling in mozilla won't work well either: the text becomes distored, with parts of mozilla window still showing what was on it before scrolling. The window manager is fvwm, but I can reproduce the same problem with twm as well. Any ideas? The problems go away if I enable ShadowFB in X config file (http://www.math.uic.edu/~vladimir/xorg.conf).
