After downloading disk1 and disk2 iso images and subsequently trying to burn same, disk1 burns fine with no problem. Disk2 will not burn and locks up the machine. This has happened with both the i386 and amd64 images I downloaded from the site. Went to another machine and downloaded the same again and attempted to burn to disk and the same probem came up with that machine also. >How-To-Repeat: Download both images again and attempt to burn the ISO images to disk. Disk 1 will burn fine. Disk2 will not burn and locks up the machine. A 5.1 CD boots fine, Everything above I tried has this problem (including 5.3-RELEASE and 5.3-STABLE). With the boot floppies it is possible to install FreeBSD, but under heavy load there is data-corruption galore, without any messages in the syslog. For instance: A single buildkernel will (usually, not always) succeed, but a buildkernel and buildworld (or some other heavy load) at the same time will screw up the /usr partition in a few seconds. The builds stop because of errors in the source file, because they are truncated. Sometimes the system locks up without any message and will require a hard reset. Apache under heavy load has the same effect. Additionally, I tried a Fasttrak 66 card (with 2 mirrored drives) as a workaround and FreeBSD fails to detect the second drive (on the IDE2 port), it says it is missing and the array is degraded. When I continue with one drive the array will stay in sync anyway, but there is data-corruption in much the same way as with the TX2000. I have verified that both cards work on a Windows workstation, and I tried with a second brand new TX2000 card. If there is any more information needed I'll be happy to provide it. -- Regards, Terrence Koeman MediaMonks B.V.
