OkCupid is a two-year-old online dating startup built on a unique,
efficient, patent-pending matching system. In just its first year
since launch, OkCupid has 500,000 active users and has spawned
numerous dates, engagements, and marriages.  The site is growing
rapidly and we are building a reputation as the smartest and best
matching service.  We expect to have over 1,000,000 active users in
the next year.

OkCupid raised a seed round of financing in 2003 and has reached
cash-flow break even as of early 2005.  The management team plans to
continue operating the site as the only free matching site in the
industry.  OkCupid currently generates its revenue through
advertising, but plans to offer premium services to its members in the
near future.  OkCupid currently serves over 100,000,000 ad impressions
per month.

either Boston or New York City.  The management team of OkCupid has
successful startup experience including SparkNotes (educational

Lead Developer
--------------------

OkCupid has an open Lead Developer position.  We seek an outstanding
technologist, with experience developing applications for a cluster of
FreeBSD machines.  Candidates should expect to work closely with the
rest of the management team on many corporate management issues, but
the primary responsibility will be developing the site and hiring and
managing programmers.

We seek someone with extensive C++ experience and a CS degree from a
top school.  A BA/BS is sufficient, but we invite advanced degree
holders to apply as well.  Ideal candidates will have 4-7 years of
experience developing commercial code, and some experience managing
developers and projects.

Required skills/experience include: 
+ Developing software in C++ on some Unix-like platform;
+ Experience with Python, Perl, and shell scripting;
+ Relational database experience, especially with MySQL;
+ Project management experience in a small, dynamic start-up;
+ Experience deploying large consumer-oriented website
+ Experience developing for and managing a FreeBSD cluster;
+ Experience working with legacy code desired; 
+ Familiarity with security issues ; and
+ Understanding of asynchronous remote procedure calls.
