I managed to install 5.3 eventually and I have now updated to 6.0-GENERIC. I have done buildworld, and built and installed a Kernel using the GENERIC config file as is as this agrees with the errata: device sc device creator options KBD_INSTALL_CDEV However, when I reboot, the console gets as far as: getty[437]: open /dev/screen : no such file or directory getty[438]: open /dev/ttya : no such file or directory and then the console freezes - the keyboard does not work and the only message is on tty0 when I su to root after a remote SSH logon. The U10 has a PS2 combined keyboard and mouse. dmesg.boot shows: machfb0: mem 0xe1000000-0xe1ffffff at device 2.0 on pci1 machfb0: 16 MB aperture at 0xcdd02000, 1 KB registers at 0xe17ffc00 machfb0: 2048 KB SGRAM 62.999 MHz, maximum RAMDAC clock 170 MHz, DSP machfb0: resolution 1152x900 at 8 bpp atapci0: port 0xc00000-0xc00007,0xc00008-0xc0000b,0xc00010-0xc00017, ata2: on atapci0 ata3: on atapci0 pcib2: at device 1.0 on pci0 pci2: on pcib2 creator0: on nexus0 creator0: console creator0: resolution 1280x1024 syscons0: on nexus0 syscons0: Unknown <16 virtual consoles, flags=0x300> Timecounters tick every 1.000 msec ad0: 76319MB at ata2-master WDMA2 acd0: CDRW at ata3-master PIO4 I have checked and /dev/screen and /dev/ttya do not exist.
