Currently standards/55112 and an issue with kludge code in gen/genhostname.c were waiting for a bump before being addressed. The bump occurred 2 months ago, is it too late to fix these issues? It's not too late, but I'm not game to make ABI changes like this after what happened last time with stdio. It would probably be best to wait until someone investigates ELF symbol versioning, and whether that can be used to solve these kinds of problems without so many headaches.
