The 13 bytes this transfer should transfer are the 13 bytes of the CSW. Is it possible that you could connect two USB 2.0 flash disks to the same USB controller and see if they both hang at the same time. That might indicate that there is something wrong with the EHCI driver. I had another look at /sys/dev/usb/umass.c and wondered why the CSW has the same timeout as the data transfer. I've been playing with USB2.0 trying to get a 80 GB diskdrive working with FreeBSD with speeds higher than 1MB/s. Adding ehci device to the kernel and it almost seems to work. I can mount, umount, run fdisk, newfs, copy files etc. But then suddenly the device becomes inaccessible, and trying to access the device (running ls or something) will make the console/shell freeze and becomes unresponsive. I can continue to use the PC but it's not entirely stable. Programs will not start, or freezes/crashes at random. The PC will not shutdown until I've disconnected the usb-drive. Then after some time it gives up on syncing the disks. After reboot I've to run fsck on alle drives. This stalling/locking have happened while trying to copy many large (3+ MB) files. I've also seen it after running newfs_msdos, but after 5 min I could access the drive again. I had to manually remove the local declaration of 'spin', since buildkernel failed. For my situation things remain the same, i.e. nothing breaks, but I still get the symptoms I will describe next. So, at least this is a 'it doesn't break anything' message. I have been reading the relevant code, but I can't see whether my problem is in ulpt or ohci. If someone who knows this stuff can lead me to the right direction, it would be very much appreciated. I've even tried an interesting patch from NetBSD (ulpt.c, rev. 1.64) but it didn't help either. I tried using the psm driver, but it claimed a maximum of seven buttons while this mouse has twelve according to one source[1]. I then tried the ums driver, yet it also claimed only seven buttons. Fortunately, I found a NetBSD PR (kern/30248 [2]) concerning the button limit in the ums driver. Since sc_buttons is an int, I just bumped up MAX_BUTTONS to 31, and the driver found 16 buttons. I have no idea where the extra four buttons are coming from. I've asked Viewcon's support about base chip for this adapter, they've given me the answer: FTDI FT232BM. On FTDI site I see that this chip is the successor of the FT8U232AM. However, it isn't mentioned as the supported chip in uftdi(4). Is the support for FT232BM being planned (=is VE042 worth buying)?
