I was going through the list of problem reports assigned to FreeBSD/alpha and noticed that some of the PRs refer to EoL'd branches. Specifically, PRs alpha/{38031,48676,59116,67626} refer to pre-4.11 branches, and PRs alpha/{47952,50868,61940,61973,66478} refer to pre-5.3 branches. Wouldn't it be sane to ask for whether these bugs still exist in officially supported branches and close them otherwise? Or is their existence just an artifact of FreeBSD/alpha's being a Tier-2 platform? Some of the bugs are still there, I am quite certain of that. > Or is their existence just an artifact of FreeBSD/alpha's being a > Tier-2 platform? Hm, well, the problem is that Alpha never had enough developers working on it to keep critical mass. Combine that with the wide variation of hardware, each with their own peculiarities and you have a less than desirable situation. That said, I will try to go through GNATS and see if I can do some janitoring. -- Wilko Bulte wilko@FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Sep 26 16:44:33 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-alpha@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-alpha@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7F00B16A407 for ; Tue, 26 Sep 2006 16:44:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from howard@leadmon.net) Received: from ibm.leadmon.net (ibm.leadmon.net [207.114.24.13]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9FF4A43D58 for ; Tue, 26 Sep 2006 16:44:32 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from howard@leadmon.net) Received: from gamer (gamer.leadmon.net [207.114.24.7]) (authenticated bits=0) by ibm.leadmon.net (8.13.8/8.13.8/LNSG+ORDB+SCOP+NJABL+SBL+DSBL+SORBS+CBL+RHSBL) with ESMTP id k8QGiSiQ027836 for ; Tue, 26 Sep 2006 12:44:31 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from howard@leadmon.net) X-DKIM: Sendmail DKIM Filter v0.5.1 ibm.leadmon.net k8QGiSiQ027836 DKIM-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=relaxed/simple; d=leadmon.net; s=default; t=1159289071; bh=jfj6yyKv4EOMrvqDtO8QwuOtUS4=; h=X-DomainKeys: DomainKey-Signature:Authentication-Results:X-SenderID:From:To: Subject:Date:Organization:Message-ID:MIME-Version:Content-Type: Content-Transfer-Encoding:X-Mailer:Thread-Index:X-MimeOLE; b=g3bORb 25MJty9uFrf9ncNacyZVV2fy/ygwC42mnYL9eKmHyfMBZ/Muujlxh6VvzenPNzaOSW0 PiyVBJXz56C+4Crd4Utv9fuYevTAs6oeNI3lk8rnUAi2n/wAJJg/58AwufibU5zIJLj xMCUX1yga9kQz9751sIglgoqdQU+S10= X-DomainKeys: Sendmail DomainKeys Filter v0.4.1 ibm.leadmon.net k8QGiSiQ027836 DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; s=default; d=leadmon.net; c=nofws; q=dns; h=authentication-results:x-senderid:from:to:subject:date: organization:message-id:mime-version:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:x-mailer:thread-index:x-mimeole; b=kBUOKZjaLinQhNsAZSZdMnxau6IUHaJGRJY4jli3omJQR5Qfrnj+L+/2KWZQC2DfV rwFX442j9ekioY+4oh4LZJ2RhodLCj+ijlUtq9MDAn1RiW/J/mhlDFm5bXu5ppfOobM Kqo5ScqTakFkjDsckNtkYGDBOQH2qLdl66cQTlY= Authentication-Results: ibm.leadmon.net from=howard@leadmon.net; sender-id=pass; spf=pass X-SenderID: Sendmail Sender-ID Filter v0.2.14 ibm.leadmon.net k8QGiSiQ027836 From: "Howard Leadmon" To: Date: Tue, 26 Sep 2006 12:44:23 -0400 Organization: Leadmon Networking Message-ID: <008201c6e18b$088697e0$071872cf@Leadmon.local> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook 11 Thread-Index: AcbhiwUsgc3Jb/80RIGLm+GOcPrbRQ== X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2962 X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV 0.88.4/1946/Tue Sep 26 09:18:37 2006 on ibm.leadmon.net X-Virus-Status: Clean Subject: Best revision to run under?
