Rest of ports was still from 6.8. After reboot over night I only get VGA alike resolution. So to say over night :-/ Installed now 6.9 completely new but no change. Stuck in VGA alike resolution :-// I created and xorg.conf file using Xorg -configure Although I configure in xorg.conf a higher screen resolution I only get a VGA alike resolution. I have a Connect 3D ATI Radeon 850 Pro with 256 MB DRAM. And my screen is a Medion 19" TFT connected to the digital port. At the moment I update FreeBSD to 6.x -STABLE to have the latest bits ... In the attachement my current xorg.conf file and a log of Xorg -verbose 9 -logverbose 9 session. And a log of dmesg. Could somebody please help my, why suddenly Xorg is stuck in using VGA style resolution ? Copyright (c) 1992-2005 The FreeBSD Project. What strikes me most is that it ran one time successfully and then not anymore ;-) Sometimes when doing Xorg -configure sometimes the whole machine hangs. > Suggestions: > 1) Try disabling one of the monitors or see above. > 2) Add a second Monitor section describing the builtin LCD panel. which "builtin" panel ? confused about this point. > 3) Explicitly specify the horizontal/vertical sync rates (copy the ones > reported by DDC into your xorg.conf file). > 4) Disable MergeFB Will try the last 2 suggestions. The problem is external storage connectivity. Sun provides 2 options: - Fibre Channel (Dual Channel 4Gb FC PCI-E Host Adapter) - SCSI (Single Channel Ultra320 Differential SCSI PCI Host Adapter) FC is the preffered option for me. But as I've read in 6.0 hardware notes FreeBSD supports LSI Logic FC cards only. So, I have two questions: 1. Will I be able to use Sun's FC card on FreeBSD 6.0? 2. Sun's SCSI card if the answer to the first question is "No"? Sun's SCSI card if the answer to the first question is "No"? Well, talking to myself. Sun provides 2 options for FC HBAs. The first one is some kind of Emulex; the Linux driver exists as opensource, but it seems that noone has bothered porting it to *BSD. So, this is not an option for me. The second option is QLogic ISP2432. isp(4) states that chips up to 23xx are supported. So, does anyone know if 24xx chips are compatible enough (I hope yes, because a single driver supports all the previous QLogic chips 1xxx and 2xxx)?
