Possible. Well, not _voice_, but modem data either tagged as modem data call or generic audio call. Usually the phone network translates the gsm data call to modem. I _think_ it is possible to select some sort of data on the phone side, which includes V110 and V120; I don't remember whether it includes translation to full-speed B channel data - but how would that work? GSM data is a serial data stream, not packetized data which could be translated to HDLC on a B channel. Btw, I never managed to make our old Siemens behave with my old Istec, but I can call a modem at University fine. I'm not sure which side is faulty. -is -- seal your e-mail: http://www.gnupg.org/ From owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Feb 27 12:38:44 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8A52116A420; Mon, 27 Feb 2006 12:38:44 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from dave@turbocat.de) Received: from mail.turbocat.net (mail.turbocat.net [213.133.116.130]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2962A43D45; Mon, 27 Feb 2006 12:38:41 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from dave@turbocat.de) Received: by mail.turbocat.net (Postfix, from userid 1002) id 2B9F1422EC50; Mon, 27 Feb 2006 13:38:37 +0100 (CET) Received: from alice.turbocat.de (p54BCD848.dip.t-dialin.net [84.188.216.72]) by mail.turbocat.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4A3AB422EC4B; Mon, 27 Feb 2006 13:38:36 +0100 (CET) Received: from alice.turbocat.de (alice [10.1.0.1]) by alice.turbocat.de (Postfix) with ESMTP id A589D1EAE1F0; Mon, 27 Feb 2006 13:38:28 +0100 (CET) X-Mailer: TCMail 2.0 http://www.turbocat.de (NetBSD) From: David Wetzel Date: Mon, 27 Feb 2006 13:38:28 +0100 To: Ignatios Souvatzis X-Originating-IP: [10.1.0.12] Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-TCMailFlags: 001 Message-Id: <20060227123828.A589D1EAE1F0@alice.turbocat.de> Cc: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Volker Stolz , freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org?= Subject: Re: Data connection from GSM to AVM Fritz? First: According to the fax capabilities of an AVM-C4 and c4b there should be no problem. I cannot tell about Hylafax, but I think it should work, too. Regarding current versions of FreeBSD I just made a new version of c4b available (see ). It does not contain any new features, but some bugfixes, and the project source tree was completely restructured. It is now possible to fully compile and install c4b outside the FreeBSD source tree. In many cases there is no need to patch the source tree, the patchsets are thus not as version dependent as before. The only part that needs patching is i4b. If one uses i4b and c4b together, some patches must be applied. But the i4b part has very few changed in the recent past, that patchsets can remain unchanged over a long time. This change should make upgrading the system and c4b much easier. The current version v1.1 compiles and runs on recent 5-STABLE, 6-STABLE and 7-CURRENT (at least from 2006-01-17).
