You would need to rebuild jdk against recent -current libc and threading libraries to return functionality due to -current's thread libraries (which have had no version bump yet) being dependent on functionality in -current's libc.7, but diablo loads libc.6. As a fast workaround if you just want to get diablo working again, you should be able to libmap.conf one of the other thread libs instead of libthr. I don't know how well it works, but others have reported success. As I already mentioned, the Eclipse problem is not related. See this: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=3D24796 It is a eclipse + GTK issue and not java. So I took a look in /usr/ports/print/cups-base/pkg-install. The post install operation "unshades" the /usr/local/bin versions of lp* by clearing the mode bits on the /usr/bin copies (chmod -h 0 ...). It no longer moves them out of the way and replaces them with symlinks. It also does it only if you have CUPS_OVERWRITE_BASE defined. CUPS 1.2.x has been a real pain but for other reasons. -virgil Nicolas Blais wrote: >> Hi, >> >> This works ok for me using cups 1.1.23 on 6.1-release. I am launching the manager with the command: + /usr/local/jdk1.5.0/bin/java -classpath /spare/usr/StorMan/RaidMan.jar:/usr/local/jdk1.5.0/jre/lib/rt.jar com.ibm.sysmgt.raidmgr.mgtGUI.Launch which results in the exception: Sep 7, 2006 2:04:35 AM Login failed java.rmi.ServerError: Error occurred in server thread; nested exception is: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: authenticateUser which would explain why I am not able to login as root to the manager. Here is the Linux command for above: java -Djava.compiler=NONE -cp ./RaidMan.jar com.ibm.sysmgt.raidmgr.mgtGUI.Launch which does not work any better - the same exception is thrown. So, how do I modify the command line to allow java to resolve the call to "authenticateUser"? FWIW, the original call was referencing "classes.zip", and that is clearly wrong for jdk1.5.0. And, yes, I need to use jdk1.5.0 as I am running this on 6.1/AMD64. Thank you, Bruce -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "I like bad!" The cups change assumes that all applications that use lpr search the path for it. It is not a valid assumption IMHO. It is not a valid approach for java. The jdk expects /usr/bin/lpr to just work. It doesn't search the path for lpr. > It no longer moves them out of > the way and replaces them with symlinks. It also does it only if you > have CUPS_OVERWRITE_BASE defined. So, after dodging Azureus dependancies, this might be the final hurdle to get Azureus to compile :/ Anyway... I got an internal error (4E4D4554484F440E4350500525) I got that error when I was installing something called "sed" (/usr/ports/net/sed ?), but that got resolved once I mounted linprocfs... But Azureus refuses to compile... I googled further more and one site tells me to add -Xint to my java command line... I added that in the last line of work/azureus file that was created. And thats how the number of files mentioned in the output below reduced from 2000 something to 1476... Good thing/bad thing??? Any ideas how to get this working? Below from BEGIN to END is the exact console output... PS: please CC your replies to me coz im not on the list.... =====BEGIN (I'm in directory /usr/ports/net-p2p/azureus)===== hostname# make install clean ===> Building for azureus-2.4.0.2 Buildfile: build.xml init: compile: [javac] Compiling 1476 source files to /usr/ports/net-p2p/azureus/work/build [javac] # [javac] # An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine: [javac] # [javac] # Internal Error (4E4D4554484F440E4350500525), pid=49360, tid=0x50f000 [javac] # [javac] # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (diablo-1.5.0_07-b00 mixed mode) [javac] # An error report file with more information is saved as hs_err_pid49360.log [javac] # [javac] # If you would like to submit a bug report, please write [javac] # a letter to freebsd-java@FreeBSD.org mailing list [javac] # BUILD FAILED /usr/ports/net-p2p/azureus/work/build.xml:22: Compile failed; see the compiler error output for details. Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 09 Sep 2006 06:33:18 -0000 For anyone interested: j-Interop implements DCOM wire protocol (MSRPC) to enable development of Pure Bi-Directional, Non-Native Java applications which can interoperate with any COM component. The implementation itself is purely in Java and does not use JNI to provide native access, thus being truly platform independent. It has full support for COM automation and supports callback from COM Servers (event handling). 1.04(a) has been tested on Fedora 5 and Windows XP/2K/2K3. Beta is expected out by second week of september. This release can be downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=174727 Thanks, best regards, Vikram --------------------------------- --------------------------------- --------------------------------- --------------------------------- Stay in the know.
