Maybe I not really understand your question but for logging to Ilo you just need 1/ Have the Ilo card password (give by HP) 2/ Give a IP adresse to Ilo card (can provide by dhcp) and you just use ssh admin@ilo-ip-address and once you log in use REMCONS to have the console of the server. 'k, I think we're getting crossed wires here ... first, ssh in is okay, but to get teh kind of information taht I believe that Albert wants, you also need to run 'remcons' ... but, remcons times out after a period of time (max is 60 minutes, I believe), so unless it crashes in that time, your 'script' will just show you logged out of an idle connection ... - ---- Marc G. You can then set up that serial port as the console. You should then be able to keep a record with screen, a large history and ssh to the ILO. -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-proliant@freebsd.org [mailto:owner-freebsd-proliant@freebsd.org] On Behalf Of brad miele Sent: 22 November 2006 19:17 To: freebsd-proliant@freebsd.org Subject: ilo console logging I asked this once before, but on the tail of another issue, but i just had another phantom reboot so it has occured to me again. is there any way to log the console via ilo? it would be great to see exactly what the system says right before it pukes. which doesn't seem to get to the syslog. (of HP of course, if it were true) > Hi we use a configration similar to yours. You could try to follow our steps: iLO installation Follow the steps outlined in the HP document named: "Integrated Lights-Out Virtual Serial Port configuration and operation" These are the main phases: -enter iLO configuration during the boot -configure IP address, admin user and other relevant settings Bios Follow the steps outlined in the HP document: "Integrated Lights-Out Virtual Serial Port configuration and operation" These are the steps required: -enter the BIOS configuration -configure BIOS Serial Console FreeBSD Insert these lines in /boot/loader.conf: hint.acpi.0.disabled=1 boot_multicons="YES" boot_serial="YES" comconsole_speed="115200" console="comconsole, vidconsole" Modify /boot/device.hints with the new values for sio0: hint.sio.0.at="isa" hint.sio.0.port="0x408" hint.sio.0.flags="0x10" hint.sio.0.irq="4" note the new values for the I/O port. Edit /etc/make.conf and insert these new lines: BOOT_COMCONSOLE_PORT="0x408" BOOT_COMCONSOLE_SPEED="115200" Then recompile the boot loader: # cd /sys/boot # make clean # make # make install reboot and enter ilo, then enter vsp. Hope it's useful
