(using NVIDEA driver from the ports) Also most of the time my keyboard doesn't work in X11 an i can only use CTRL-ALT-DELETE to safely reboot my laptop; even CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE doesn't work somehow. (KDE not recieving keyboard events?) (or use the mouse to press shutdown) It just took me 7 reboots to get my FreeBSD running. :( This is on a Dell Inspiron 5150 with a P4 3.2Ghz HT CPU. My other PC is a Dell Precision 530 with a dual Xeon 2.4. (removed/quit trying FreeBSD on it because it is to unstable, it crashes like every 10 minutes) ----- DMESG dmesg Copyright (c) 1992-2005 The FreeBSD Project. still booting KDE when i press CTRL-ALT-F1). * Hyperthreading problem? I always seem to have these problems on HT CPU's and disable this most of the time. (because this laptop also runs Windows XP and i thought FreeBSD 6 finaly fixed the HT bugs i've enabled it again) * ACPI? Dell seems to have a problem writing good APIC code; FreeBSD doesn't run on my Dell XEON for more then 10 minutes without crashing while Windows XP runs like a charm). * Broadcom ethernet adaptor problem? FreeBSD 5 crashed more often when using the onboard network interface. (currently disabled) More i don't know.. i get no panics so i don't get any info about the problem. >Fix: No idea. >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-threads@FreeBSD.ORG Wed May 3 23:20:47 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-threads@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-threads@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AF26216A402; Wed, 3 May 2006 23:20:47 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from deischen@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 687E043D46; Wed, 3 May 2006 23:20:47 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from deischen@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (deischen@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id k43NKl3U004846; Wed, 3 May 2006 23:20:47 GMT (envelope-from deischen@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from deischen@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id k43NKlTE004842; Wed, 3 May 2006 23:20:47 GMT (envelope-from deischen) Date: Wed, 3 May 2006 23:20:47 GMT From: Daniel Eischen Message-Id: <200605032320.k43NKlTE004842@freefall.freebsd.org> To: deischen@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-threads@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: kern/96739: X11 crashes the whole system when switching to console.
