Very strange happenings now. Screen gets scrambled when OpenGL screen save initializes and apparently kills X. Right clicking on the desktop and going to 'Configure Desktop', unchecking the 'Start Automatically' in the screen saver and then clicking the 'Apply' button does the same thing. I see the tty0 text with garbage beneath it. Sometimes it responds to keyboard and I can not 'startx' but can 'reboot now', sometimes it doesn't and I have to hard boot it. I also updated xorg-edit too. I'm running an nVidia 6200SE 256mb with nVidia's driver 1.0-8762. I know that nVidia just released a 1.0-8774 driver but don't know if that will help. I guess my question to you is where can I find a link to the previous source or package of xorg-server? Thank you and if you need any more information, please ask. uname -a FreeBSD drache.localhost 6.1-RELEASE-p2 FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE-p2 #1: Thu Jul 6 11:31:02 PDT 2006 root@PCBSD.localhost:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/PCBSDv1.2 i386 From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Aug 27 19:52:20 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: x11@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AD27016A4E0 for ; Sun, 27 Aug 2006 19:52:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from freebsdwicker@gmail.com) Received: from nz-out-0102.google.com (nz-out-0102.google.com [64.233.162.194]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8E46443D55 for ; Sun, 27 Aug 2006 19:52:19 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from freebsdwicker@gmail.com) Received: by nz-out-0102.google.com with SMTP id 13so807751nzn for ; Sun, 27 Aug 2006 12:52:18 -0700 (PDT) DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=nofws; s=beta; d=gmail.com; h=received:message-id:date:from:to:subject:cc:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type:references; b=AdR1yAnZZ687D4FJ9EME/lWbl638TUuuxbr64YBRLbjNahy2x6VpbDTvt3rg4GI41t/UocI5tmTmxmPMmxNeMNhHlDqo2x+uzSV5Uve6pZsFOa3Msqhzz7fj1/bvOrovNas8+M+9k99NhiFt/ea8A4CO84OmarEurZgVf8ym6FQ= Received: by 10.65.114.11 with SMTP id r11mr5870887qbm; Sun, 27 Aug 2006 12:52:17 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.64.150.8 with HTTP; Sun, 27 Aug 2006 12:52:16 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <2d19405f0608271252g417f0c1ex4bd2b82c97971afd@mail.gmail.com> Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2006 12:52:16 -0700 From: "FreeBSD WickerBill" To: "Wicker Bill" In-Reply-To: <44F1B483.8060001@syix.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 References: <44F1B483.8060001@syix.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Cc: anholt@freebsd.org, x11@freebsd.org Subject: Re: xorg-server 6.9.0_5 X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2006 19:52:20 -0000 I fixed this problem by updating my nVidia drivers from 8762 to 8774 and hand massaging the XF86Config file. Everything back to normal now including resolution, OpenGL screen savers and any modifications I want to make to the desktop configuration. Hopefully this may help others that had this problem.
