Since the transition occurs between RC2 and RC3, the default XKB data path in setxkbmap also changes from $X11BASE/lib/X11/xkb to $X11BASE/share/X11/xkb, in version 1.0.3. But I find it strange that the version of setxkbmap in the repository rolled back from 1.0.3 to 1.0.2. It seems the reason it doesn't work. http://git.xbsd.org/?p=freebsd/ports.git;a=history;h=xorg;f=x11/setxkbmap/Makefile Regards, yongjhen -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (FreeBSD) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFFjlMjMczB8rP/pbkRAhxRAJ9FoK3voc6BoktXCq1Z7S1uPBTRvwCfXMrE v1rSbcjcppriwnbX32ExSPo= =uVet -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 25 01:05:10 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: x11@FreeBSD.org Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5B54A16A403 for ; Mon, 25 Dec 2006 01:05:10 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from SRS0=l3Al=GD=singlesmatching.net=newsletter@srs.kundenserver.de) Received: from moutng.kundenserver.de (moutng.kundenserver.de [212.227.126.177]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 99DA813C474 for ; Mon, 25 Dec 2006 01:05:09 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from SRS0=l3Al=GD=singlesmatching.net=newsletter@srs.kundenserver.de) Received: from [84.56.51.59] (helo=XMailer) by mrelayeu.kundenserver.de (node=mrelayeu2) with ESMTP (Nemesis), id 0MKwtQ-1Gye4x1PNq-0006qA; Mon, 25 Dec 2006 01:52:35 +0100 From: "Singlesmatching" To: x11@FreeBSD.org Date: Mon, 25 Dec 2006 01:52:36 +0100 MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Mail X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.3028 Message-ID: <0MKwtQ-1Gye4x1PNq-0006qA@mrelayeu.kundenserver.de> X-Provags-ID: kundenserver.de abuse@kundenserver.de login:1eebd805f56afce04f3199f51b2e3826 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Cc: Subject: Find your luck with Singlesmatching! The build fails with a syntax error in the mga_driver.c file. The offending commit seems to be this one in the xorg git tree: http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/driver/xf86-video-mga.git;a=commitdiff;h=10b2202c254b71b8d0da987a225d5e78a030bca4 I am trying to do a fresh install of xorg 7.2-RC3 from the modular xorg tree flz has put together on a recent (25 dec around 12PM CET) current. I don't think the error is on my side, although it might be a configure script gone bad. I just thought everybody should know, so we can fix it by temporarily remove this driver from the xorg-driver makefile or downgrade/upgrade to a current working version. I will notify the xorg maintainer of this driver and see if he has any ideas. I added "drm" and "radeondrm" these two lines into my kernel configure file, and recompiled the kernel. After revising the configure file, I rebooted my machine with the new kernel, but I still got the "No devices detected" message. I found that there's a line in my log file as following: (--) PCI:*(1:0:0) ATI Technologies Inc unknown chipset (0x7149) rev 0, Mem @ 0xc8000000/27, 0xc0100000/16, I/O @ 0x90000/8 so that I set the BusID to "PCI:1:0:0", but it doesn't work, the message is still "No devices detected". I wonder about the message in my log file whether it will appear in your log file as the same, and how can you detected your display card information about " VendorName" and "BoardName"? I generated the configure file by "xorgconfig" command and revised my /etc/X11/xorg.conf manually. Do you have any other good way to detect the card? I attached my configure file and the log file for your reference. p.s. I can't find any information about Xorg7.2 with my ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 by google, do you have a link so that I can go forward to the website for more information? Anyway, I prefer solve the problem now to wait for the Xorg7.2 releasing. :-P B.Rgds. I think the vga0 is used for the default console output, isn't it? I attach 3 files (scanpci, dmesg and my kernel configure file) to you. I found that there're some ATI devices could not to load drivers, I think my main board is using the ATI chipset. I have compiled drm into kernel but I still can not found any information about DRM in dmesg as you said, I don't know why it doesn't work on my machine. Is drm works for your machine? p.s. fglrx is for Linux but not for FreeBSD, someont port the fglrx to FreeBSD is out date, the new fglrx supported my x1300 card but not for FreeBSD. Thanks for your kindly help. B.Rgds. I don't believe that either 2D acceleration or 3D acceleration are supported on the x1300 card under Xorg. The only driver that will work for your card is the VESA driver which, I believe, has a maximum resolution of 1024x768. X.org 6.9 does not have any support for the X1300. There might be some support for it in the upcoming X.org 7.x (for x > 0), but I am not sure about that. If you are using the 'vesa' driver I believe that you can only use those modes that have been pre-programmed in the card's BIOS. 1280x800 (or other wide-screen resolutions) is usually not one of those. -- Erik Trulsson ertr1013@student.uu.se From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Dec 28 16:01:44 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0D35516A416 for ; Thu, 28 Dec 2006 16:01:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from janvier.roc@gmail.com) Received: from ug-out-1314.google.com (ug-out-1314.google.com [66.249.92.172]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6C25A13C479 for ; Thu, 28 Dec 2006 16:01:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from janvier.roc@gmail.com) Received: by ug-out-1314.google.com with SMTP id o2so3631428uge for ; Thu, 28 Dec 2006 08:01:42 -0800 (PST) DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=nofws; s=beta; d=gmail.com; h=received:message-id:date:from:to:subject:cc:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type:references; b=COJLJvM36+FJAruI1NXlgazU89AL/Sn+/EHWColibvTBGxkKib+jQxJhSFGzTDNkNIBsbBOkK0J3hPBZYKrEipRT3bosv0ingqOwzr/pJZcQrl5PQfu2AizYmSreRv0RE5QCMjrXmDwcRiM6xV/iT0It4GmohdG8LDexRnft9yI= Received: by 10.66.216.1 with SMTP id o1mr20105585ugg.1167321702108; Thu, 28 Dec 2006 08:01:42 -0800 (PST) Received: by 10.67.27.9 with HTTP; Thu, 28 Dec 2006 08:01:36 -0800 (PST) Message-ID: <7deba7c00612280801k4f012500m8226b2fe7d4fdc12@mail.gmail.com> Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 00:01:36 +0800 From: "Janvier Pang" To: "Adam K Kirchhoff" In-Reply-To: <200612280847.20975.adamk@voicenet.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 References: <7deba7c00612260923ja2c6eccs52e7004d7fdec33@mail.gmail.com> <499c70c0612271053q405e0569v8378ede1095000c3@mail.gmail.com> <7deba7c00612280535j4931241dp7291b609aff1388a@mail.gmail.com> <200612280847.20975.adamk@voicenet.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Cc: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Can anybody change the resolution to 1280x800? In fact, I don't care any about 2D or 3D accessoration. I just want to set the resolution to 1280x800, that's becase my wide screen is LCD monitor and if you use the resolution of 1024x768, it will be very ugly. Why do you think my graphic card can not set to 1280x800? B.Rgds. I think that ATI provides a proprietary driver for their newer cards that is supposed to work with X.org. (It is probably labeled as being for Linux, but that should hoefully not matter since X.org drivers are supposed to be OS-neutral.) I have never tried using ATI's driver so I don't know anything further about it than that it is supposed to exist. > > B.Rgds. > > Janvier Pang > > > On 12/29/06, Erik Trulsson wrote: > > > >On Fri, Dec 29, 2006 at 12:12:26AM +0800, Janvier Pang wrote: > >> Hi, > >> > >> But I'm truely believe that the vesa can use the resolution. > >> > >> That's because I can found such information in my log file if I use the > >vesa > >> driver: > >> > >> ... > >> (II) VESA(0): Gamma: 2.20 > >> (II) VESA(0): No DPMS capabilities specified; RGB/Color Display > >> (II) VESA(0): First detailed timing is preferred mode > >> (II) VESA(0): redX: 0.575 redY: 0.359 greenX: 0.319 greenY: 0.532 > >> (II) VESA(0): blueX: 0.155 blueY: 0.129 whiteX: 0.312 whiteY: 0.328 > >> (II) VESA(0): Manufacturer's mask: 0 > >> (II) VESA(0): Supported additional Video Mode: > >> (II) VESA(0): clock: 68.9 MHz Image Size: 331 x 207 mm > >> (II) VESA(0): h_active: 1280 h_sync: 1301 h_sync_end 1333 h_blank_end > >1408 > >> h_border: 0 > >> (II) VESA(0): v_active: 800 v_sync: 804 v_sync_end 808 v_blanking: 816 > >> v_border: 0 > >> (II) VESA(0): QUANTADISPLAY > >> (II) VESA(0): QD15TL072 > >> (II) VESA(0): Searching for matching VESA mode(s): > >> (==) VESA(0): Write-combining range (0x0,0x1000) was already clear > >> ... > >> > >> It said that the vesa found the correct additional video mode with > >1280x800 > >> resolution on my card.
