Sometimes (during portupgrade or other high load) CPU temperature becomes very high, and laptop can shutdown due to very high temperature (more than 100 in Celsius). And CPU fan stops at such moments (or works at very small speed), but sysctl -a | grep "tz0.active" shows "hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.active: 0". What is also strange: if sysctl variable "hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.active: 1" I see that cpu fan is running. If in this moment I send "sysctl hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.active=0" than cpu fan stops. If I send "sysctl hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.active=1" I see that cpu fan works again. But I saw several times "hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.active: 0" and cpu fan worked at high speed. Is this problems with my hardware or with acpi? It seems that I do not face this problem when run Windows on this laptop. I will appreciate your answer! My system: " FreeBSD DENIS.EXAMPLE.COM 6.2-RELEASE FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE #0: Sun Mar 4 10:16:22 MSK 2007 denis@DENIS.EXAMPLE.COM:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/MYFIFTH i386" sysctl -a | grep acpi: acpipwr 5 1K - You could try throwing in some printfs and see what was the last > to trigger. My nc6220 loses all its ATA devices on resume. Mine also has a serial console so I've been able to debug some. Try http://www.FreeBSD.org/~jhb/patches/ata_reinit.patch (fixes a panic on resume) and http://www.FreeBSD.org/~jhb/patches/ata_resume.patch (doesn't lose ATA devices on resume). This gets it closer, but somehow resume is hanging elsewhere as i still don't get to where I can hit enter on the (serial) console after this. I have verified that you can use acpi_video to turn the LCD on and off, so that will be useful once it gets far enough to run commands during resume. On my laptop at least, though, acpi_video always thinks all the output devices are off even when they are on. -- John Baldwin From owner-freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Jun 26 18:34:34 2007 Return-Path: X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 29 Jun 2007 08:00:24 -0000 Hi, I am using this patch since it was announced on this list, it is still needed for TC1000 running 7.0-CURRENT. Is it possible to put it into tree, maybe with #ifdef ACPI_TC1000_HACK defaulting to no, so nothing else breaks but my life would be easier with that - instead of patching source I just put some option in config file. I would appreciate it, as I am preparing to go with 7.0 as it becomes RELEASE and follow it more regularly... Regards, Milan -- Address this mail is sent from is used only for this mailing list.
