BUS_DMASYNC_PREWRITE Perform any synchronization required after an update of host memory by the CPU and prior to DMA write operations. BUS_DMASYNC_POSTREAD Perform any synchronization required after DMA read operations and prior to CPU access to host memory. BUS_DMASYNC_POSTWRITE Perform any synchronization required after DMA write operations. Makes sense...But in the section describing bus_dmamap_load, the following example is given: For example, the CPU might be used to setup the contents of a buffer that is to be DMA'ed into a device. To ensure that the data are visible via the device's mapping of that memory, the buffer must be loaded and a dma sync operation of BUS_DMASYNC_PREREAD must be performed. I believe the example is incorrect--it's actually describing the case where BUS_DMASYNC_PREWRITE would be necessary. You should read first FDP-Primer at http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/books/fdp-primer/. Then set up your own local repository (cvs or svn). After setting up local repository, copy original FreeBSD tutorial to your local repo and start working on it, preferably on SGML files. good luck, Ganbold > > Regards, > Miroslav > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > _______________________________________________ > freebsd-doc@freebsd.org mailing list > http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-doc > To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-doc-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" > From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Feb 12 11:06:43 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: doc@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6136716A409 for ; Mon, 12 Feb 2007 11:06:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [69.147.83.40]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 44D3213C491 for ; Mon, 12 Feb 2007 11:06:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (linimon@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id l1CB6hFe097514 for ; Mon, 12 Feb 2007 11:06:43 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from linimon@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id l1CB6fcW097510 for DOC; Mon, 12 Feb 2007 11:06:41 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2007 11:06:41 GMT Message-Id: <200702121106.l1CB6fcW097510@freefall.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: freefall.freebsd.org: linimon set sender to owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org using -f From: FreeBSD bugmaster To: FreeBSD doc list Cc: Subject: Current unassigned doc problem reports X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2007 11:06:43 -0000 Current FreeBSD problem reports The following is a listing of current problems submitted by FreeBSD users. These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. r - repocopy The resolution of the problem report is dependent on a repocopy operation within the CVS repository which is awaiting completion. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. A TODO list > would be great :-) > A little search would give you 2 available contacts: gioria@FreeBSD.org and blackend@FreeBSD.org Anyway, it's quite simple: pick a non-translated things (Handbook chapter, article, another non-translated book), inform me about what text you are currently working on and *please* do not give up without contacting me. In another words, think twice before starting something you may not be able to finish. I often get mail from people who want to work on translation, I propose them an article or a chapter to work on, they accept and they always disappear without any news. Another thing, since it seems to be sometimes the reason why some people want to contribute to translation, we cannot "pay" you, we have nothing to offer beside the satisfaction of being able to help non-english speaking people. -- Marc From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Feb 12 21:10:15 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 592E016A406 for ; Mon, 12 Feb 2007 21:10:15 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [69.147.83.40]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 45E0F13C49D for ; Mon, 12 Feb 2007 21:10:15 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id l1CLAFNH048514 for ; Mon, 12 Feb 2007 21:10:15 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id l1CLAFsh048513; Mon, 12 Feb 2007 21:10:15 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2007 21:10:15 GMT Message-Id: <200702122110.l1CLAFsh048513@freefall.freebsd.org> To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org From: Remko Lodder Cc: Subject: Re: docs/109105: security.mac.bsdextended.firstmatch_enabled is not enabled X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: Remko Lodder List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2007 21:10:15 -0000 The following reply was made to PR docs/109105; it has been noted by GNATS. A little discussion with the developers of the MAC framework could give the proper idea about what is going on. Perhaps the documentation is OK and the code is wrong, or the other way around. You might think that I am a bit grumpy, and yes I am. The PR tickets are not for Support questions (Which this initially is) but for confirmed problems which should be resolved. We cannot resolve this prior to have some investigation going on. So AGAIN: Please ask / discuss these things on the various mailinglists before submitting a ticket to make things more concrete, this will help FreeBSD, you and others! This is analogous to the reorg I did for the release notes about a month prior to that. It's still a little rough around the edges but as far as I can tell everything works (heh). Translation teams: Presuming that you want to track this reorganization, you'll need to set the HWNOTES_MI Makefile variable in your hardware/Makefile in order to get the auto-generated device listings correct. (Until you do this, the hardware notes translations should build exactly as they did before.) Once all of the active translations have caught up, I want to nuke the backward compatibility goop that was required to make this work. Thanks to simon@ for some good ideas and help with this part. The recent commit messages for src/release/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/hardware/article.sgml, as well as src/release/doc/share/misc/man2hwnotes.pl rev. 1.14, have more details. Bruce. PS. It appears that there are a number of translations of the release documentation that aren't actively maintained in FreeBSD CVS (maybe they're maintained externally, which is fine). Unlike (say) translations of the handbook, documents such as the release notes get stale really quickly. I'd like to encourage translation teams to reap unmaintained translations of the release documentation...a quick pass hints that de_DE, fr_FR, ja_JP, and ru_RU are potential candidates for th= is. --------------enig6D5A3721C804B81DDB473FAF Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (Darwin) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFF1Rpr2MoxcVugUsMRAkifAKCQyW3tpIi+I+Jgqz8XrFbDIGwndwCeP8mr MIxLiZzZ5k9X5Q8j+ALe9qY= =l5g2 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------enig6D5A3721C804B81DDB473FAF-- From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Feb 16 11:23:34 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 191C416A401; Fri, 16 Feb 2007 11:23:34 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from linimon@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [69.147.83.40]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E321113C46B; Fri, 16 Feb 2007 11:23:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from linimon@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (linimon@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id l1GBNXcn020037; Fri, 16 Feb 2007 11:23:33 GMT (envelope-from linimon@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from linimon@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id l1GBNXWf020033; Fri, 16 Feb 2007 11:23:33 GMT (envelope-from linimon) Date: Fri, 16 Feb 2007 11:23:33 GMT From: Mark Linimon Message-Id: <200702161123.l1GBNXWf020033@freefall.freebsd.org> To: linimon@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: docs/109226: No manual entry for sntp X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 16 Feb 2007 11:23:34 -0000 Synopsis: No manual entry for sntp Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-bugs->freebsd-doc Responsible-Changed-By: linimon Responsible-Changed-When: Fri Feb 16 11:23:21 UTC 2007 Responsible-Changed-Why: Over to maintainer(s). http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=109226 From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Feb 16 12:35:21 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: docs@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5C22F16A400 for ; Fri, 16 Feb 2007 12:35:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nathan@bridgenex.com) Received: from smtp101.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com (smtp101.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com [68.142.198.200]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 0AEA213C4B2 for ; Fri, 16 Feb 2007 12:35:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nathan@bridgenex.com) Received: (qmail 22984 invoked from network); 16 Feb 2007 12:08:40 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO HPPENTIUMDUAL) (npsanders@sbcglobal.net@75.18.174.223 with login) by smtp101.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com with SMTP; 16 Feb 2007 12:08:39 -0000 X-YMail-OSG: qteuWqkVM1lrv6pVzNm9d95XsPHoRCpA.mxtVVF2Zy2wK4W_NDEJmB6Jeac7PGqOCyhBsW2Pw4Hr0CQyFkd2ZAAu3ct_fKlPerZd1Qbg5XRcCZOw818YvIH.9ADY7ErzsYzL9YnRvdfAX8s- From: "Nathan Sanders" To: Date: Fri, 16 Feb 2007 04:08:07 -0800 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="----=_NextPart_000_0222_01C75180.2214F110" X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook, Build 11.0.6353 X-MS-TNEF-Correlator: 00000000DDE2EFC006273A4E8CF13C77FA02859FA4E72200 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2180 Message-Id: <20070216123521.0AEA213C4B2@mx1.freebsd.org> X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Cc: Subject: Sr. MySQL Architect Opportunity @ an established startup X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 16 Feb 2007 12:35:21 -0000 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0222_01C75180.2214F110 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hello- I'm contacting you to see if you are interested in the following opportunity with our client.
