I've been away for 3 weeks, and before leaving I've removed the Wifi PCI card, and removed wifi related settings in rc.conf and loader.conf. So, the box is up and running for almost 4 weeks, no problem at all, everything is running fine. I believe there might be an issue in the interaction between ath and ACPI, but I don't know how to be sure of that without putting my system at risk. here is my rc.conf line for setting ath0 up : ifconfig_ath0="inet 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 ssid foobar media auto mediaopt hostap mode 11g pureg up" Is there, by any chance, an option that would prevent interaction between ACPI and ath, so that the box would not crash ? Other question : what will I lose if I disable ACPI ? (the box spors two dual core Xeon LV sossaman). thanks, patpro From owner-freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Jul 24 02:43:42 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: hardware@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1085C16A41B for ; Tue, 24 Jul 2007 02:43:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from marketing@enhance-tech.com) Received: from elasmtp-dupuy.atl.sa.earthlink.net (elasmtp-dupuy.atl.sa.earthlink.net [209.86.89.62]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C4F2813C461 for ; Tue, 24 Jul 2007 02:43:41 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from marketing@enhance-tech.com) Received: from [216.135.230.34] (helo=Dim-1) by elasmtp-dupuy.atl.sa.earthlink.net with asmtp (Exim 4.34) id 1IDACM-00078h-Jg for hardware@freebsd.org; Mon, 23 Jul 2007 22:32:30 -0400 Organization: Enhance Technology Inc. Tried to be connected to two channel, thought that error from a channel...! 1. I start dhclient, long thinks and does not determine Ipv4, do network configuration and routing I by hands. 2. start of Xorg: Mozilla and Firefox work in the internet - a computer hangs up. 3. mount Samba, copy a file, and after 2-10min. a computer hangs up, there was it 5-10 times. 4. ftp works normally.ok? I did not activate other interface! Tried everything that could, in delivery such is present nowhere, did not find! (it was only from 2000-2003 year) If I understood correctly, an error is in a kernel.(if_xl.c???)? In ravines (log) nothing is present about it! Tried to turn off and include apci... I want to include this network because for it speed to become very rapid what at other network maps!
