I fixed one issue, but I'm still looking into a second. The first issue was nested data TLB faults when we don't expect them. I fixed this by 1) making sure the VHPT is actually wired and 2) to extend physical addressing to include the bucket list pointer. The second issue is that I'm getting general exceptions for (apparently) random instructions in the init process. My first thought was the RSE, because the faulting instruction varied, but I'm moving away from that. I'm now thinking that the TLB fault handler of the exception that happens immediately prior to the general exception is having a dependency related bug. I haven't exactly nailed it down. The bottomline is that both FreeBSD 6.x and 7 are broken for me on my Montecito and I fear all Montecitos. Would you be able to test a couple of patches on FreeBSD 7 to help me obtain some additional datapoints? -- Marcel Moolenaar xcllnt@mac.com From owner-freebsd-ia64@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jul 26 07:28:42 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 38E2816A418 for ; Thu, 26 Jul 2007 07:28:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from Richard.Walter@hob.de) Received: from mailgate.hob.de (mailgate.hob.de [212.185.199.3]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BB67913C442 for ; Thu, 26 Jul 2007 07:28:41 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from Richard.Walter@hob.de) Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by mailgate.hob.de (Postfix) with ESMTP id CEE7A280EC; Thu, 26 Jul 2007 09:28:40 +0200 (CEST) Received: from mailgate.hob.de ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (mailgate.hob.de [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id 14017-07; Thu, 26 Jul 2007 09:28:40 +0200 (CEST) Received: from imap.hob.de (mail2.hob.de [172.25.1.102]) by mailgate.hob.de (Postfix) with ESMTP id 89061280F8; Thu, 26 Jul 2007 09:28:40 +0200 (CEST) Received: from [172.22.30.68] (walterrd-1.hob.de [172.22.30.68]) by imap.hob.de (Postfix on SuSE eMail Server 2.0) with ESMTP id 37F75C5B15; Thu, 26 Jul 2007 09:28:40 +0200 (CEST) Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2007 09:29:27 +0200 From: Richard Walter To: Marcel Moolenaar MIME-Version: 1.0 Message-ID: <46A84D57.9050903@hob.de> User-Agent: Thunderbird 1.5.0.12 (Windows/20070509) References: <461357FF.1060505@hob.de> <461492A3.9@hob.de> <46152B18.2000504@hp.com> <92E5D9E5-4F6A-426D-93F7-2B14AF39CD38@mac.com> <46153842.7050306@hp.com> <713E07DF-2785-4738-83A5-FBBC503E49FB@mac.com> <463B0AB3.4010102@hob.de> <93AE228A-5E2A-4485-855C-DD2F09E09E89@mac.com> <43EBC9F9-9665-412C-9236-6913673EFE19@mac.com> <46821CEE.9060203@hob.de> <1D759112-A61B-485B-979E-E09A3420B6F5@mac.com> <46A5B28A.5020503@hob.de> <4604F8CD-DE76-46A2-A069-B5A0DDA6B778@mac.com> In-Reply-To: <4604F8CD-DE76-46A2-A069-B5A0DDA6B778@mac.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"; format="flowed" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-AVK-Virus-Check: AVKA 17.352;F1206 X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new-20030616-p10 (Debian) at hob.de Cc: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Install problem HP integrity rx2660(Montecito) X-BeenThere: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the IA-64 List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2007 07:28:42 -0000 Hi Marcel, no problem, but please tell me step by step what i've to do.
