Both servers have been setup to use the Smart Array as the first boot device in the system configurations. I have installed FreeBSD 6.2 with the root, swap, and var partitions on the Smart Array's logical drive But when it boots, it gets the stage where it shows the following prompt: Press "F1" key to continue "F10" key for System Partition Utilities and just stops, any ideas? is there a setting I am missing somewhere? or could it be that the 3rd party controllers are confusing it? One is a Western Digital SATA controller, and other is a Sis Ultra ATA controller Thanks Jeff From owner-freebsd-proliant@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Aug 4 02:17:25 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-proliant@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2CE8F16A419 for ; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 02:17:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from edwin@mavetju.org) Received: from mail5out.barnet.com.au (mail5.barnet.com.au [202.83.178.78]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0B75513C457 for ; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 02:17:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from edwin@mavetju.org) Received: by mail5out.barnet.com.au (Postfix, from userid 1001) id ECE022219D11; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 11:59:23 +1000 (EST) X-Viruscan-Id: <46B3DD7B000005CB338419@BarNet> Received: from mail5auth.barnet.com.au (mail5.barnet.com.au [202.83.178.78]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mail5.barnet.com.au (Postfix) with ESMTP id ADE9521B28D7; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 11:59:23 +1000 (EST) Received: from k7.mavetju (k7.mavetju.org [10.251.1.18]) by mail5auth.barnet.com.au (Postfix) with ESMTP id 67CDF2219CF7; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 11:59:23 +1000 (EST) Received: by k7.mavetju (Postfix, from userid 1001) id E75C9145; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 11:59:24 +1000 (EST) Date: Sat, 4 Aug 2007 11:59:24 +1000 From: Edwin Groothuis To: Jeffrey Williams Message-ID: <20070804015924.GI1382@k7.mavetju> References: <46B3C156.4040704@sailorfej.net> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <46B3C156.4040704@sailorfej.net> User-Agent: Mutt/1.4.2.3i Cc: freebsd-proliant@freebsd.org Subject: Re: DL380 stalls at F1/F10 prompt X-BeenThere: freebsd-proliant@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: "Technical discussion of FreeBSD on HP ProLiant server platforms." Did you install the FreeBSD Boot Loader or did you do it without the boot loader? This might be of interest for you, but that is part of the boot loader: http://www.mavetju.org/weblog/html/00170.html Edwin -- Edwin Groothuis | Personal website: http://www.mavetju.org edwin@mavetju.org | Weblog: http://www.mavetju.org/weblog/
