Currently, adding PYTHON_VERSION=python2.5 in your /etc/make.conf is the simplest way, but it would break some ports because python2.5 doesn't install the binary $PREFIX/bin/python. Forthcoming Python 2.5.1 update will introduce a convenient way to choose version to use as a default; new configurable global variable PYTHON_DEFAULT_VERSION is add for such uses. I think the upgrade will be finished in a week or two weeks. If you can spend some time on testing the patch in advance, please apply this patch and take a look whether your ports are working as expected: http://people.freebsd.org/~perky/python25-rev6.diff Thanks, Hye-Shik From owner-freebsd-python@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Jul 15 21:54:49 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: python@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-python@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3CF6616A4CD for ; Sun, 15 Jul 2007 21:54:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from alexbl@FreeBSD.org) Received: from cherenkov.geekfire.com (cherenkov.geekfire.com [66.206.86.94]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1F8D013C47E for ; Sun, 15 Jul 2007 21:54:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from alexbl@FreeBSD.org) Received: from localhost.my.domain (c-24-21-141-24.hsd1.mn.comcast.net [24.21.141.24]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by cherenkov.geekfire.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 814DF3B553 for ; Sun, 15 Jul 2007 14:51:16 -0700 (PDT) From: Alexander Botero-Lowry To: python@freebsd.org In-reply-to: <4f0b69dc0707151136o3ce84032sf0cf2b661c200336@mail.gmail.com> References: <4f0b69dc0706101154r8a5b51btd81ffdc5a2321de3@mail.gmail.com> <4f0b69dc0707151136o3ce84032sf0cf2b661c200336@mail.gmail.com> Comments: In-reply-to "Hye-Shik Chang" message dated "Mon, 16 Jul 2007 03:36:21 +0900."
