This patch also includes some fix to A3N, which seems to be not working for hw.acpi.asus.lcd_brightness. This patch also includes EeePC support. Well, this is exactly what I have done for this patch. I don't have ASUS machine except EeePC, but if someone can try, I am pleased to write a patch for other ASUS products. Tried to install FBSD7-REL on it and failed @ booting off the CD into the installer. Changed bios to access SATA in RAID mode which enabled them to be AHCI devices and was able to boot and do a network install. Once installed I rebooted and the box blew up (kernel panics all over) after printing: acpi0: on motherboard I left it for awhile and came back and magically it was booted. I suspect however that the system is not sable and needs some investigation/ fixes thus I am contacting you. Disabling ACPI does not fix the problem in fact it presents me with a missing root disk. sweetmonkeylovin# sysctl hw.acpi hw.acpi.supported_sleep_state: S3 S4 S5 hw.acpi.power_button_state: S5 hw.acpi.sleep_button_state: S3 hw.acpi.lid_switch_state: NONE hw.acpi.standby_state: S1 hw.acpi.suspend_state: S3 hw.acpi.sleep_delay: 1 hw.acpi.s4bios: 0 hw.acpi.verbose: 0 hw.acpi.disable_on_reboot: 0 hw.acpi.handle_reboot: 0 hw.acpi.cpu.cx_lowest: C1 hw.acpi.thermal.min_runtime: 0 hw.acpi.thermal.polling_rate: 10 hw.acpi.thermal.user_override: 0 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.temperature: 40.0C hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.active: -1 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.passive_cooling: 1 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.thermal_flags: 0 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._PSV: 50.0C hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._HOT: -1 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._CRT: 120.0C hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._ACx: 50.0C -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 Dmesg: http://bsd-unix.net/seitz/530/dmesg.boot ASL: http://bsd-unix.net/seitz/530/foo.asl Any help would be appreciated! -- Bryan G. You have to hook up devd to get extra buttons that are not handled by acpi_asus(4). One night, I wrote an ugly script to do that (attached for your reference). To use it, you need to add the following lines in the /etc/devd.conf: # ASUS laptop notified actions. notify 10 { match "system" "ACPI"; match "subsystem" "ASUS"; action "/etc/acpi_asus $notify"; }; and place the attached file in /etc and make it executable. For X.org OSD, you need to install ports/misc/xosd. About every 2nd or 3rd time I resume after suspending (running acpiconf -s 3 in an xterm, or via an entry in blackbox's menu), the xconsole and dmseg shows "acpi: suspend request ignored (not ready yet)". No other notable messages in any system logs. When that happens, future invocations of acpiconf/zzz will silently exit. It happens without ANY kernel modules (besides ACPI) loaded. But it seems to happen only under X11. If I switch to a tty, and exec acpiconf, it doesn't have any such problem (at least so far). Hardware is: MSI KM2M Combo-L motherboard. PCI NVidia 4mx 420 PCI card (NV driver) Linksys LNE100 (Tulip) NIC FreeBSD 6.2 acpi s3 worked great, with two minor exceptions: - Built-in (mobo) NIC driver fails after resume. - X11 intermittently failed to switch to tty0, which caused video to not reinit properly. Switching to tty0 first worked flawlessly. Additionally: rc.suspend doesn't seem to be getting invoked at all (while it was with 6.2). Yet rc.resume still is. Again, no messages in any system logs. Am I missing something? --Multipart=_Sat__19_Apr_2008_15_27_28_-0700_HaDgeF4cuJUAEzIz Content-Type: text/plain; name="dmesg.txt" Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="dmesg.txt" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Copyright (c) 1992-2008 The FreeBSD Project.
