I was trying to use glabel to clear a /dev/ufs/ label and it was refusing to do it. I suggest modifying the g(eom_)label manpage to reflect that to alter a label, you must use the proper utility to make the change, for example: mkisofs for iso9660 tunefs for ufs glabel for label And the rest as needed. This will clarify that geom_label is only as a method, not a general purpose tool to alter all information. >How-To-Repeat: tunefs -L root /dev/ad0s1a # creates /dev/ufs/root glabel clear root # fails to clear /dev/ufs/root tunefs -L "" /dev/ad0s1a # clears /dev/ufs/root >Fix: See above, how to repeat >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Feb 5 20:50:04 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 573721065673 for ; Thu, 5 Feb 2009 20:50:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 105B08FC08 for ; Thu, 5 Feb 2009 20:50:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id n15Ko3EB054247 for ; Thu, 5 Feb 2009 20:50:03 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3/Submit) id n15Ko32K054243; Thu, 5 Feb 2009 20:50:03 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Thu, 5 Feb 2009 20:50:03 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <200902052050.n15Ko32K054243@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, Fabian Ruch Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8AF2D10656C8 for ; Thu, 5 Feb 2009 20:44:16 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from fabianruch@bsdgroup.de) Received: from mail.bsdgroup.de (mail.bsdgroup.de [82.193.243.42]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3F44B8FC0A for ; Thu, 5 Feb 2009 20:44:16 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from fabianruch@bsdgroup.de) Received: from mail.bsdgroup.de (mail.bsdgroup.de [82.193.243.42]) by mail.bsdgroup.de (Postfix) with SMTP id 8AAD6192EED for ; Thu, 5 Feb 2009 21:33:31 +0100 (CET) Received: from beastie.local (dslb-088-067-068-150.pools.arcor-ip.net [88.67.68.150]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mail.bsdgroup.de (Postfix) with ESMTP id D88A1192E9D for ; Thu, 5 Feb 2009 21:33:28 +0100 (CET) Received: from beastie.local (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by beastie.local (8.14.2/8.14.3) with ESMTP id n15KXRcI002220 for ; Thu, 5 Feb 2009 21:33:28 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from fabian@beastie.local) Received: (from fabian@localhost) by beastie.local (8.14.2/8.14.3/Submit) id n15KXRN0002219; Thu, 5 Feb 2009 21:33:27 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from fabian) Message-Id: <200902052033.n15KXRN0002219@beastie.local> Date: Thu, 5 Feb 2009 21:33:27 +0100 (CET) From: Fabian Ruch To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: 3.113 Cc: Subject: docs/131433: [patch] A few punctuation and spelling mistakes in porters-handbook X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: Fabian Ruch List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 05 Feb 2009 20:50:04 -0000 >Number: 131433 >Category: docs >Synopsis: [patch] A few punctuation and spelling mistakes in porters-handbook >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-doc >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: doc-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Thu Feb 05 20:50:03 UTC 2009 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Fabian Ruch >Release: FreeBSD 7.1-RELEASE i386 >Organization: >Environment: System: FreeBSD beastie.local 7.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 7.1-RELEASE #0: Thu Jan 1 14:37:25 UTC 2009 root@logan.cse.buffalo.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386 >Description: In doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/porters-handbook/book.sgml (r1.973) I noticed a few punctuation and spelling mistakes.
