I was curious how many of the static allocated level 1 page tables are really being used in a real environment. I would appreciate it if the following patch was compiled into your next kernel: http://www.tinguelys.info/mark/freebsd/pmapInUse.diff The amount of RAM that you have and environment (embedded, mini-server, etc) would help. The results can be gathered with the command: $ sysctl vm.pmap.pmap_l1u vm.pmap.pmap_l1s vm.pmap.pmap_l1m vm.pmap.pmap_l1u is the total number of level 1 page tables allocated since rebooting. vm.pmap.pmap_l1s is the number of times the level 1 page tables that had to share with an existing l1 pagetable. vm.pmap.pmap_l1m is the max number of level 1 pagetables at any given time. --Mark Tinguely From owner-freebsd-arm@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Oct 15 21:22:23 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-arm@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8C4CF1065670 for ; Fri, 15 Oct 2010 21:22:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from patrick.oeschger@bluewin.ch) Received: from mail30.bluewin.ch (mail30.bluewin.ch [195.186.19.70]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2613F8FC1F for ; Fri, 15 Oct 2010 21:22:22 +0000 (UTC) Received: from [195.186.19.84] ([195.186.19.84:61941] helo=tr18.bluewin.ch) by mail30.bluewin.ch (envelope-from ) (ecelerity 2.2.2.45 r()) with ESMTP id 7D/73-04755-582C8BC4; Fri, 15 Oct 2010 21:07:17 +0000 Received: from freebsd81-1.ip-plus.net (188.61.142.81) by tr18.bluewin.ch (The Blue Window 8.5.119.018.5.119.01) (authenticated as patrick.oeschger) id 4CADD5BB0054071A for freebsd-arm@freebsd.org; Fri, 15 Oct 2010 21:07:17 +0000 Date: Fri, 15 Oct 2010 23:07:12 +0200 From: Patrick Oeschger To: freebsd-arm@freebsd.org Message-ID: <20101015210712.GA21229@freebsd81-1.ip-plus.net> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.20 (2009-06-14) Subject: FreeBSD on Gumstix Overo / Beagle Board (TI OMAP3530) X-BeenThere: freebsd-arm@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the StrongARM Processor List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 15 Oct 2010 21:22:23 -0000 anybody interested in porting freebsd to - gumstix overo (http://www.gumstix.com/store/catalog/index.php?cPath=27)? I already have one BeagleBoard rev.C4 and one Zippy Expansion board v1 (with 10-Mbit Ethernet). Also there is a project: http://code.google.com/p/beagleboard-freebsd/ I tried to merge 9-CURRENT and that code.
