The model of motherboard on that pc is 603TCF and it has VT8601T as north bridge and VT82C686B as south bridge. I read about ATA(4) (http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=ata&sektion=4&manpath=FreeBSD+8.0-RELEASE) and there i read that FreeBSD supports VT82C686B, but i've got the next problem: when i choose "Commit" in install window i've got an error : "Error: unable to create filesystem". First i think maybe something is wrong with my hard-drive (IDE), but i try 4 different drives and the error is the same. I tried different cables, different combinations of jumpers on hard drive - the problem is the same. Also i drew attention on messages(15-20) about hard drive like "ad0: FAILURE - READ_DMA status=51 error=84 LBA=39070080"... I don't understand if FreeBSD supports VT82C686B, why i've got this problem? >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: I tried "safe mode" in menu, and error disappeared, but it is not a solution:( >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Mar 24 06:44:17 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-i386@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D1795106566B; Wed, 24 Mar 2010 06:44:17 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from remko@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A7A9F8FC19; Wed, 24 Mar 2010 06:44:17 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o2O6iHHa018438; Wed, 24 Mar 2010 06:44:17 GMT (envelope-from remko@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from remko@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o2O6iGTL018434; Wed, 24 Mar 2010 06:44:16 GMT (envelope-from remko) Date: Wed, 24 Mar 2010 06:44:16 GMT Message-Id: <201003240644.o2O6iGTL018434@freefall.freebsd.org> To: heavymetal@online.ua, remko@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.org From: remko@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: i386/144967: Error: unable to create filesystem X-BeenThere: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: I386-specific issues for FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 24 Mar 2010 06:44:17 -0000 Synopsis: Error: unable to create filesystem State-Changed-From-To: open->feedback State-Changed-By: remko State-Changed-When: Wed Mar 24 06:40:12 UTC 2010 State-Changed-Why: So you mention that it works when you boot in safemode, but it doesnt work in regular mode?
