I've used linux thru LTIB for FSL powerquicc cpu. Actually, I'm interested in using FB w/ powerquicc. Previously, I found you ported FB onto MPC8572. I read your paper on this issue. Can I reach more informations on this, such as cross build instruction? Thank you. This reduces some code duplication and should ease implementation of Book-E systems with hard FP, Altivec, and 64-bit support. A diff to do this is at http://people.freebsd.org/~nwhitehorn/exec_machdep.diff I have tested this extensively on AIM, since it's been part of the ppc64 tree for a long time now, but it is only compile-tested on Book-E systems, so I'd appreciate knowing if I broke anything there. Unless I hear anything, I'll commit this to HEAD on Monday. -Nathan From owner-freebsd-ppc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jul 8 18:09:43 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: powerpc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D5D6D106564A; Thu, 8 Jul 2010 18:09:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: from freebsd-current.sentex.ca (freebsd-current.sentex.ca [64.7.128.98]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A11E48FC08; Thu, 8 Jul 2010 18:09:43 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freebsd-current.sentex.ca (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freebsd-current.sentex.ca (8.14.4/8.14.3) with ESMTP id o68I9g14069909; Thu, 8 Jul 2010 14:09:42 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: (from tinderbox@localhost) by freebsd-current.sentex.ca (8.14.4/8.14.3/Submit) id o68I9gqp069908; Thu, 8 Jul 2010 18:09:42 GMT (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Date: Thu, 8 Jul 2010 18:09:42 GMT Message-Id: <201007081809.o68I9gqp069908@freebsd-current.sentex.ca> X-Authentication-Warning: freebsd-current.sentex.ca: tinderbox set sender to FreeBSD Tinderbox using -f Sender: FreeBSD Tinderbox From: FreeBSD Tinderbox To: FreeBSD Tinderbox , , Precedence: bulk Cc: Subject: [head tinderbox] failure on powerpc/powerpc X-BeenThere: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the PowerPC List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 08 Jul 2010 18:09:43 -0000 TB --- 2010-07-08 16:25:02 - Also, entering the fixit shell from sysinstall and running 'gpart show' would be interesting. > Also, off the top of their head does anyone know if the ZFS port is > current as the latest release now supports PPC architecture. The ZFS port may work, but with suboptimal performance due to the lack of 64-bit atomics on 32-bit PowerPC. I do not know if it has been tested, however. It will work fully with a 64-bit kernel (64-bit support is not in the 8 release series, however). -Nathan From owner-freebsd-ppc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jul 8 23:32:09 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 52708106564A for ; Thu, 8 Jul 2010 23:32:09 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gdriggs@gmail.com) Received: from mail-vw0-f54.google.com (mail-vw0-f54.google.com [209.85.212.54]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 03A858FC14 for ; Thu, 8 Jul 2010 23:32:08 +0000 (UTC) Received: by vws6 with SMTP id 6so2137387vws.13 for ; Thu, 08 Jul 2010 16:32:05 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:mime-version:received:received:in-reply-to :references:date:message-id:subject:from:to:content-type; bh=FRAWvI8q5F2sP+DK2phg9mC6krypiZO2HcTnd68fDDo=; b=O3reFEjlDyHqvjFb+1dJ1DUiq99s1ExUF8rrINyhWCrQBKBwlHmD2RgHxybsKQtIRp iNjfOVZvDiFk+st/M0uIUhi6FJ6E6av1Bzg0ButfK8d0s9dcMJHsjY1LYn8SWjXPqp+d R/CYG76Hal198FE3bF0iHyRWrRID64YtkHirs= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:date:message-id:subject:from:to :content-type; b=rVoyAa70zTnwGOZOBErka/AYrfOEUtfjp7ckPlNutbDvpJNNz9I1kQRrUA0cEfE/rL iUMTgB8GvEzrc5NEDU2STXJ/N49mzJePL59pCaFWQmNFUQrTtSBbfgKIGVk6YwI/8vdI qqGQJV+mIsB6bRhqcs1psZg2z/a95Q504QgqY= MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.224.2.147 with SMTP id 19mr5065509qaj.59.1278631925274; Thu, 08 Jul 2010 16:32:05 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.224.60.209 with HTTP; Thu, 8 Jul 2010 16:32:05 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: <20100708170959.78453243@anacreon.physics.wisc.edu> References: <20100708170959.78453243@anacreon.physics.wisc.edu> Date: Thu, 8 Jul 2010 16:32:05 -0700 Message-ID: From: Gary To: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Subject: Re: 8.1rc2 and ZFS X-BeenThere: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the PowerPC List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 08 Jul 2010 23:32:09 -0000 On Thu, Jul 8, 2010 at 3:09 PM, Nathan Whitehorn wrote: > Can you try doing a verbose boot (boot -v from the loader)? While I will be trying very hard not to break things for 32-bit systems, things will be in a little bit of flux, so upgrades in -CURRENT should be attempted with caution for the next few days. If you do upgrade your systems and find something that I have broken, please let me know as soon as possible. -Nathan
