The architecture handbook has not been well-loved over the past few years, and is not exactly authoritative on very much at the moment. A look at other uses of the DEFINE_CLASS_0 and DRIVER_MODULE macros (e.g. dev/pci/pci_pci.c) and consulting fxr.watson.org seems to indicate that these arguments should not be existing symbols: 103 DEFINE_CLASS_0(pcib, pcib_driver, pcib_methods, sizeof(struct pcib_softc)); 104 DRIVER_MODULE(pcib, pci, pcib_driver, pcib_devclass, 0, 0); FXR does not see "pcib_driver" as a symbol. Indeed, looking at the macro implementation reveals that this argument is used to define a new symbol as part of the macro expansion: #define DEFINE_CLASS_0(name, classvar, methods, size) \ \ struct kobj_class classvar = { \ #name, methods, size, NULL \ } #define DRIVER_MODULE(name, busname, driver, devclass, evh, arg) \ EARLY_DRIVER_MODULE(name, busname, driver, devclass, evh, arg, \ BUS_PASS_DEFAULT) #define EARLY_DRIVER_MODULE(name, busname, driver, devclass, evh, arg, pass) \ \ static struct driver_module_data name##_##busname##_driver_mod = { \ evh, arg, \ #busname, \ (kobj_class_t) &driver, \ &devclass, \ pass \ }; \ \ static moduledata_t name##_##busname##_mod = { \ #busname "/" #name, \ driver_module_handler, \ &name##_##busname##_driver_mod \ }; \ DECLARE_MODULE(name##_##busname, name##_##busname##_mod, \ SI_SUB_DRIVERS, SI_ORDER_MIDDLE) So, given that mypci_cdevsw is already declared, the answer to your question is "no". -Ben Kaduk From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Sep 29 02:30:27 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C6F5D1065670; Thu, 29 Sep 2011 02:30:27 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gjb@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9F83B8FC13; Thu, 29 Sep 2011 02:30:27 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id p8T2URDu059638; Thu, 29 Sep 2011 02:30:27 GMT (envelope-from gjb@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gjb@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id p8T2UR2r059620; Thu, 29 Sep 2011 02:30:27 GMT (envelope-from gjb) Date: Thu, 29 Sep 2011 02:30:27 GMT Message-Id: <201109290230.p8T2UR2r059620@freefall.freebsd.org> To: kaduk@mit.edu, gjb@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org, gjb@FreeBSD.org From: gjb@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: docs/161088: [patch] grammar and markup in script.1 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 29 Sep 2011 02:30:27 -0000 Synopsis: [patch] grammar and markup in script.1 State-Changed-From-To: open->patched State-Changed-By: gjb State-Changed-When: Thu Sep 29 02:29:46 UTC 2011 State-Changed-Why: Patched in HEAD. According to syslogd(8): % Multiple -a options may be specified. % The allowed_peer option may be any of the following: % ipaddr/masklen[:service] Accept datagrams from ipaddr (in the % usual dotted quad notation) with % masklen bits being taken into account % when doing the address comparison. % ipaddr can be also IPv6 address by % enclosing the address with ‘[’ and % ‘]’. If specified, service is the % name or number of an UDP service (see % services(5)) the source packet must % belong to. A service of ‘*’ allows % packets being sent from any UDP port. % The default service is ‘syslog’. So, if ":*" or some other port is not specified, the default will be the syslog UDP port 514 (from /etc/services). According to the above, your cisco device is using port 54446. I suspect this will work with the following rc.conf entry: ####rc.conf syslogd_enable="YES" syslogd_flags="-d -a 10.10.10.1:54446 -v -v" Can you please try this, and let us know? By happy coincidence, mine mentions the shell interface but doesn't go into it. Didn't think there were any catches, but maybe kern.geom.debugflags and other settings are not already done. I made a bunch of screenshots, but only used a few. A quick hack of just the bsdinstall chapter is temporarily at http://www.wonkity.com/~wblock/freebsd9/book.html Please ignore the missing stylesheets and sections that haven't been updated yet.
