Not only have I made my plans widely public, but I sent explicit mail to
all maintainers detailing my plans on 2011-09-03, along with various
followups. You can see yours at

Not that I blame you for my mistake, but I did rely to some extent on
the extensive silence from the maintainers that did not respond as an
implicit, "I don't see any problems with that plan."
