Do you have still have pth installed? I think your python 2.6 has changed after you submitted PR? I have gone ahead installed lang/python26 with the pth option. Here's what I get: # python2.6-config --ldflags -L/usr/local/lib/python2.6/config -lpth -lutil -lm -lpython2.6 ----------------------------------------^^^ > is this mean python-relevant ports (ex. py-*) fail to detect build > options of python's? It's a lang/python26 bug. There is nothing that py-libxml2 depends on pth. Since the python2.6-config has -lpth then it needs to be fixed by add -L/usr/local/lib/pth in the python2.6-config. I think one could safely assume that *most* FreeBSD users around don't run PC-BSD (and for example in my world, majority doesn't even know such a thing exists, though someone else's mileage might be different of course). So, while you might be able to find some limited help in this FreeBSD mailing list, as some PC-BSD users might lurk around for obvious reasons, my guess is that you would be able to get your question answered more precisely directly from PC-BSD users (and/or developers), which from a quick glance on their web site might be either their forums or mailing lists: http://www.pcbsd.org/content/view/15/29/ Generally, getting advice suited for a different operating system (even though PC-BSD is built on top of FreeBSD) only asks for getting your system broken and render it unusable. m. -- Michal Varga, Stonehenge (Gmail account) From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Tue May 3 02:27:33 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1B1DD106564A for ; Tue, 3 May 2011 02:27:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mezz.freebsd@gmail.com) Received: from mail-vw0-f54.google.com (mail-vw0-f54.google.com [209.85.212.54]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BEB208FC12 for ; Tue, 3 May 2011 02:27:32 +0000 (UTC) Received: by vws18 with SMTP id 18so6231390vws.13 for ; Mon, 02 May 2011 19:27:31 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:mime-version:in-reply-to:references:date :message-id:subject:from:to:cc:content-type :content-transfer-encoding; bh=IvGvtjDgYoKSoyQ7CWkNmU5Ma5lWacYM3QODDltuxl0=; b=jn9Dd0GasL4StaOGvjH+hLGxa9JGeXM3pwb49+Jx7etDDnSD5WbJH7ptTsK1Lbazig RFwJ8DmawjXejA5+WRFnEEEzOtajDI1QUw/wW9W6jw5iULElmrl2GP3ioEa/pww1JY6B yjBnV/YZ3e/C5gL2fkQHrRTraZulp2SY2xV28= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:date:message-id:subject:from:to :cc:content-type:content-transfer-encoding; b=wCjc3onpOYbsV1ymdavFv4rzcQgrs3b7fPqcmJBfyMhp/Qsx0YJE9d+Tc0LyMk1NoA tcKzrymlpXkaLVL1oPUeutYJ1mQRbiK6AgLZo5674EjtLBw07GLe0CdPP3D7TI4ElPCu Vgok/MU+x9rdWXXdxb8+NFNUEg0J6kDVH5rgk= MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.52.98.97 with SMTP id eh1mr47477vdb.7.1304387935342; Mon, 02 May 2011 18:58:55 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.220.180.2 with HTTP; Mon, 2 May 2011 18:58:55 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: References: Date: Mon, 2 May 2011 20:58:55 -0500 Message-ID: From: Jeremy Messenger To: =?UTF-8?B?UmlhY2sgUmFhY3bDtmVqYdee15nXm9ec15DXoNeSJ9ec15U=?= Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Cc: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org Subject: Re: How to remove KDE and How to install Gnome. Either way, its not for the faint of heart ;) Assuming that it is like FreeBSD, use portmaster. Look at the examples on the man page and find the instructions to re-install all ports. After the first step, edit the output file to remove the KDE ports from the list. Complete the instructions for re-installation and then 'portmaster x11/gnome2'. -- R. So your *calendar* works, but presumably not your address book? I see the problem now. We build these 'library' functions in the server/lib/ directory into a static library 'libexchange.a', and that whole thing gets included into *both* the calendar and the addressbook plugins. So of course the same function exists in *both* of the shared libraries that get loaded. The addressbook plugin then gets *unloaded*, I think, when the calendar-server decides that it isn't a calendar plugin. And I think that what you're seeing here is a bug in your platform's dynamic linker. Even though the addressbook plugin got unloaded, the internal symbols in the calendar plugin get resolved to point at it. Then again, maybe it's not a bug; maybe it's just undefined behaviour. I don't remember what is *expected* to happen in this case. But quite frankly, we got what we deserve; we *know* that weird shit happens on a lot of platforms when we do that, so we shouldn't have been doing it in the first place. We should have made our 'libexchange' into a shared library, or played namespace/linker-script tricks to ensure that those functions weren't *exported* from our plugin 'library' objects. I think you'll find this is 'fixed' in Evolution 3.0 merely because the calendar factory no longer loads the addressbook plugins, and vice versa; they are stored in separate directories now. But I suspect we should still fix it *properly* anyway. -- dwmw2 From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Thu May 5 18:44:58 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 44E08106566C for ; Thu, 5 May 2011 18:44:58 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ftp51246-2575596@sh4-5.1blu.de) Received: from sh4-5.1blu.de (sh4-5.1blu.de [213.83.63.54]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C74888FC20 for ; Thu, 5 May 2011 18:44:57 +0000 (UTC) Received: from ftp51246-2575596 by sh4-5.1blu.de with local (Exim 4.50) id 1QI3XY-0005kA-UM; Thu, 05 May 2011 20:44:45 +0200 Date: Thu, 5 May 2011 20:44:44 +0200 From: Matthias Apitz To: David Woodhouse Message-ID: <20110505184444.GA15448@sh4-5.1blu.de> References: <20110428145451.GA25158@sh4-5.1blu.de> <1304003620.4772.16.camel@macbook.infradead.org> <20110429084846.GA2763@sh4-5.1blu.de> <20110504094447.GA30294@sh4-5.1blu.de> <1304502723.6400.114.camel@macbook.infradead.org> <20110504104528.GA24928@sh4-5.1blu.de> <1304506085.6400.128.camel@macbook.infradead.org> <20110504125636.GA13323@sh4-5.1blu.de> <20110505113043.GA3161@sh4-5.1blu.de> <1304612172.2398.24.camel@i7.infradead.org> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit In-Reply-To: <1304612172.2398.24.camel@i7.infradead.org> X-Operating-System: FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE (i386) User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.9i Cc: gnome@freebsd.org, evolution-list@gnome.org Subject: Re: [Evolution] evolution-2.32.1 (FreeBSD HEAD) && calendar not working X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: Matthias Apitz List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 05 May 2011 18:44:58 -0000 El da Thursday, May 05, 2011 a las 05:16:11PM +0100, David Woodhouse escribi: > On Thu, 2011-05-05 at 13:30 +0200, Matthias Apitz wrote: > > as you can see e2k_ascii_strcase_hash() is in two shared libs and with > > the same last bits of the correct addr and the broken addr; as I wild > > guess I simply renamed 'libecalbackendexchange.so' to get it out of the > > way; the e-calendar-factory complains about it: > > (e-calendar-factory:36266): e-data-server-WARNING **: Cannot open > > "/usr/local/lib/evolution-data-server-1.2/extensions/libebookbackendexchange.so" > > I think you renamed libebookbackendexchange.so, not > libecalbackendexchange.so ? I have checked the man pages of dlopen(3); there is no definition what will happen with bound symbols on dlclose(3); I could bring this up in the FreeBSD-hackers list, but I think it should be fixed by a better design in Evolution itself (as you said about 3.x); > But quite frankly, we got what we deserve; we *know* that weird shit > happens on a lot of platforms when we do that, so we shouldn't have been > doing it in the first place. Should I wait for some kind of fix for 2.32.x? Meanwhile I will compile all again with clean sources from 2.32.3 (to remove all my debugging inserts) and will try to find some dirty workaround, for example with file permissions and setuid-bit so that e-calendary-factory can not open the libebookbackendexchange.so while the e-addrbook-factory can do it... At least we do know now what the problem is in detail; this is good news, I think; thanks for all your hints and help on the way through. matthias -- Matthias Apitz t +49-89-61308 351 - f +49-89-61308 399 - m +49-170-4527211 e - w http://www.unixarea.de/ From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Thu May 5 18:51:53 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 51131106564A for ; Thu, 5 May 2011 18:51:53 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from BATV+0ed48d66330f6077f7fc+2811+infradead.org+dwmw2@casper.srs.infradead.org) Received: from casper.infradead.org (casper.infradead.org [IPv6:2001:770:15f::2]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CD7708FC1F for ; Thu, 5 May 2011 18:51:52 +0000 (UTC) Received: from i7.infradead.org ([2001:8b0:10b:1:225:64ff:fee8:e9df]) by casper.infradead.org with esmtpsa (Exim 4.72 #1 (Red Hat Linux)) id 1QI3eZ-0000Rn-Cs; Thu, 05 May 2011 18:51:59 +0000 From: David Woodhouse To: Matthias Apitz Date: Thu, 05 May 2011 19:51:50 +0100 In-Reply-To: <20110505184444.GA15448@sh4-5.1blu.de> References: <20110428145451.GA25158@sh4-5.1blu.de> <1304003620.4772.16.camel@macbook.infradead.org> <20110429084846.GA2763@sh4-5.1blu.de> <20110504094447.GA30294@sh4-5.1blu.de> <1304502723.6400.114.camel@macbook.infradead.org> <20110504104528.GA24928@sh4-5.1blu.de> <1304506085.6400.128.camel@macbook.infradead.org> <20110504125636.GA13323@sh4-5.1blu.de> <20110505113043.GA3161@sh4-5.1blu.de> <1304612172.2398.24.camel@i7.infradead.org> <20110505184444.GA15448@sh4-5.1blu.de> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" X-Mailer: Evolution 3.0.0 (3.0.0-1.fc15) Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-ID: <1304621511.31827.0.camel@i7.infradead.org> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-SRS-Rewrite: SMTP reverse-path rewritten from by casper.infradead.org See http://www.infradead.org/rpr.html Cc: gnome@freebsd.org, evolution-list@gnome.org Subject: Re: [Evolution] evolution-2.32.1 (FreeBSD HEAD) && calendar not working X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 05 May 2011 18:51:53 -0000 On Thu, 2011-05-05 at 20:44 +0200, Matthias Apitz wrote: > Should I wait for some kind of fix for 2.32.x?
