From Makefile, I was assuming java/icedtea-web would install java/openjdk6, but it started to install java/openjdk7. Is this correct? Will icedtea-web work with openjdk7? Why would USE_JAVA=1.6 JAVA_VENDOR=openjdk give openjdk7? When I installed java/openjdk6 manually, java/icedtea-web would build without trying to install java/openjdk7. Anyhow, the installation fails as it has already been reported. Yes; I had just finished upgrading openjdk6-b22_6 to openjdk6-b23. I admit that I did not even see the notice about procfs & fdescfs until after the failure. And that I did not re-attempt the port build.install after taking the specified action. I did, however, verify that fdescfs had already been mounted (before the attempt), and I updated /etc/fstab to include the procfs mount. Now that I have since re-booted (as I had booted from a different slice in order to build a snapshot of head (9.0-CURRENT)), and procfs is already mounted: g1-222(8.2-S)[1] mount /dev/ada0s1a on / (ufs, local) devfs on /dev (devfs, local, multilabel) tmpfs on /tmp (tmpfs, local) /dev/ada0s1d on /usr (ufs, local) /dev/ada0s2a on /S2 (ufs, local, soft-updates) /dev/ada0s2d on /S2/usr (ufs, local, soft-updates) /dev/ada0s3a on /S3 (ufs, local) /dev/ada0s3d on /S3/usr (ufs, local) /dev/ada0s4a on /S4 (ufs, local) /dev/ada0s4d on /S4/usr (ufs, local) /dev/ada0s4e on /var (ufs, local) /dev/ada0s4f on /repo (ufs, local) /dev/ada0s4g on /common (ufs, local) /dev/ada0s4h on /bkp (ufs, local) fdescfs on /dev/fd (fdescfs) procfs on /proc (procfs, local) g1-222(8.2-S)[2]=20 I re-tried the "make clean install clean"; the results appear (to me) to be the same, and the config.log is the same in each case (same md5 checksums). It's worse than just that. It's going to overwrite the symlink for javaws the javavm port creates in ${LOCALBASE}/bin if you have a port (e.g. jdk16) which actually does install javaws installed. This didn't happen previously since the IcedTea javaws was installed in ${LOCALBASE}/openjdk6/bin and could be chosen by javavm just like any other alternative. -- Greg Lewis Email : glewis@eyesbeyond.com Eyes Beyond Web : http://www.eyesbeyond.com Information Technology FreeBSD : glewis@FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Jul 12 15:37:01 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: java@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id ADCDE106564A for ; Tue, 12 Jul 2011 15:37:01 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from avg@FreeBSD.org) Received: from citadel.icyb.net.ua (citadel.icyb.net.ua [212.40.38.140]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C40E48FC15 for ; Tue, 12 Jul 2011 15:37:00 +0000 (UTC) Received: from odyssey.starpoint.kiev.ua (alpha-e.starpoint.kiev.ua [212.40.38.101]) by citadel.icyb.net.ua (8.8.8p3/ICyb-2.3exp) with ESMTP id SAA15934; Tue, 12 Jul 2011 18:36:52 +0300 (EEST) (envelope-from avg@FreeBSD.org) Message-ID: <4E1C6A13.7000100@FreeBSD.org> Date: Tue, 12 Jul 2011 18:36:51 +0300 From: Andriy Gapon User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD amd64; rv:5.0) Gecko/20110705 Thunderbird/5.0 MIME-Version: 1.0 To: David Wolfskill References: <20110712122808.GH49108@albert.catwhisker.org> <4E1C432F.8070404@FreeBSD.org> <20110712135630.GI49108@albert.catwhisker.org> <4E1C57F6.2070703@FreeBSD.org> <20110712152353.GJ49108@albert.catwhisker.org> In-Reply-To: <20110712152353.GJ49108@albert.catwhisker.org> X-Enigmail-Version: 1.2pre Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Cc: java@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: Build failure for java/icedtea-web (stable/8 @r223930) X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 12 Jul 2011 15:37:01 -0000 on 12/07/2011 18:23 David Wolfskill said the following: > I had attached a copy in the initial message. I installed tomcat pretty easily following a nice how-to : http://www.calebscreek.com/2010/07/how-to-install-apache-tomcat-6-on-freebsd-8-0/ If I start tomcat from the startup script located at /usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0/bin/startup.sh, everything works fine and I have the "welcome page" viewable on port 8080. If I start Tomcat using the /usr/local/etc/rc.d/tomcat7 script, It starts fine but an error is thrown when I try to acces the "welcome page". According to the logs I checked the Java/Tomcat global vars, but they seems correct. The "path" seems empty, the file (/usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0/work/Catalina/localhost/_/org/apache/jsp/index_jsp.java) is really non existent, but I don't know how to change this path. And it should work fine as I modified nothing. Everything I search on google says "rc.d startup script is fine" (in the newer versions of port). Does anyone have an idea ? Thx, variables in rc.d/tomcat7 script : tomcat7_java_version="${tomcat7_java_version:-"1.6+"}" tomcat7_user="${tomcat7_user:-"www"}" tomcat7_catalina_home="/usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0" tomcat7_catalina_base="${tomcat7_catalina_base:-"/usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0"}" tomcat7_catalina_tmpdir="${tomcat7_catalina_tmpdir:-"/usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0/temp"}" tomcat7_stdout_log="${tomcat7_stdout_log:-"/usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0/logs/stdout.txt"}" tomcat7_stderr_log="${tomcat7_stderr_log:-"/usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0/logs/stderr.txt"}" tomcat7_stop_timeout="${tomcat7_stop_timeout:-"10"}" /usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0/bin/startup.sh script output : # ./bin/startup.sh Using CATALINA_BASE: /usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0 Using CATALINA_HOME: /usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0 Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: /usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0/temp Using JRE_HOME: /usr/local Using CLASSPATH: /usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0/bin/bootstrap.jar:/usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0/bin/tomcat-juli.jar Here are the error logs : SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet [jsp] in context with path [] threw exception [Unable to compile class for JSP] with root cause java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/local/apache-tomcat-7.0/work/Catalina/localhost/_/org/apache/jsp/index_jsp.java (No such file or directory) at java.io.FileOutputStream.open(Native Method) at java.io.FileOutputStream.(FileOutputStream.java:179) at java.io.FileOutputStream.(FileOutputStream.java:70) at org.apache.jasper.compiler.Compiler.setupContextWriter(Compiler.java:316) at org.apache.jasper.compiler.Compiler.generateJava(Compiler.java:248) at org.apache.jasper.compiler.Compiler.compile(Compiler.java:372) at org.apache.jasper.compiler.Compiler.compile(Compiler.java:352) at org.apache.jasper.compiler.Compiler.compile(Compiler.java:339) at org.apache.jasper.JspCompilationContext.compile(JspCompilationContext.java:601) at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServletWrapper.service(JspServletWrapper.java:344) at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.serviceJspFile(JspServlet.java:389) at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.service(JspServlet.java:333) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:722) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:304) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:210) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapperValve.invoke(StandardWrapperValve.java:240) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContextValve.invoke(StandardContextValve.java:164) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardHostValve.invoke(StandardHostValve.java:164) at org.apache.catalina.valves.ErrorReportValve.invoke(ErrorReportValve.java:100) at org.apache.catalina.valves.AccessLogValve.invoke(AccessLogValve.java:563) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardEngineValve.invoke(StandardEngineValve.java:118) at org.apache.catalina.connector.CoyoteAdapter.service(CoyoteAdapter.java:403) at org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Processor.process(Http11Processor.java:301) at org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol$Http11ConnectionHandler.process(Http11Protocol.java:162) at org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol$Http11ConnectionHandler.process(Http11Protocol.java:140) at org.apache.tomcat.util.net.JIoEndpoint$SocketProcessor.run(JIoEndpoint.java:309) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.runTask(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:885) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:907) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) Jul 13, 2011 2:27:44 PM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardServer await -- If you think experts are expensive, wait to see what amateurs will cost you -- Bastien Semene Administrateur Réseau& Système Cyanide Studio - FRANCE From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Jul 13 15:24:09 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: java@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 74C42106564A; What I did was: * pkg_delete -f openjdk-7.0.147_1 * cd /usr/ports/java/icedtea-web * make clean install clean * cd ../openjdk7 * make clean install clean A bit cumbersome, but everything installed, at least. As Jikes is not available in Java 1.5 or higher, remove it from bsd.java.mk too (suggested by hq@) and from the ports which used it (only occurences were USE_JIKES=no). Support for the Blackdown VM is also removed, as it is not available in Java 1.5 and higher. Also remove the mapping from Java 1.1-1.4 to Java 1.5+ in bsd.java.mk to detect old, broken ports; therefore bump the minimal value of JAVA_VERSION to 1.5. While here, replace static values of JAVA_VERSION in files/*.in by %%JAVA_VERSION%% . >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: Remove the following ports: java/jdk13 java/linux-sun-jdk13 java/linux-blackdown-jdk14 java/linux-sun-jdk14 Apply ftp://rene-ladan.nl/pub/freebsd/bsd.java.mk.diff and ftp://rene-ladan.nl/pub/freebsd/java15plus.diff to ${PORTSDIR}
