In particular, I've updated the register initvals used to program the AR9280. It's making my AR9280 here behave a lot better. I'd appreciate some more before-and-after testing if you use the AR9280. I'd like to make sure this hasn't introduced any regressions before I continue more 11n work. I can't stress how much better my AR9280 is behaving after the updates to the initvals. Beforehand the AR9280 would lock up after 2-3 minutes in monitor mode, and whilst in that mode it'd miss a lot of RX packets. I've updated the register initvals for the AR9285 and derivatives, and I've also updated the EEPROM format to be correct. I'd really appreciate some testing by those of you with AR9285/AR2427 NICs. Please let me know if things are better or worse. To AR2427 users - I'm currently using an AR2427 in another EEEPC and it's been rock solid for me for at least 30 minutes! :) Adrian From owner-freebsd-mobile@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Jan 28 09:00:20 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C355A1065674; Fri, 28 Jan 2011 09:00:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from adrian.chadd@gmail.com) Received: from mail-qy0-f182.google.com (mail-qy0-f182.google.com [209.85.216.182]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 50D708FC12; Fri, 28 Jan 2011 09:00:19 +0000 (UTC) Received: by qyk36 with SMTP id 36so2997319qyk.13 for ; Fri, 28 Jan 2011 01:00:19 -0800 (PST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:mime-version:sender:date:x-google-sender-auth :message-id:subject:from:to:cc:content-type; bh=Sb9W0r88/pq3iv9JalGoidy+KMarTLaG5RhlJpHOZZY=; b=Y0ykoDwm7aia/YaQ3hkdczzyF/otGPHMbXzxWGRMxINljHDSpEYfDZjJfuU+1qrvfG z+yMLrZnlFNnxuKL5c9vio5ng8S0fn2fFysCKWo8RdTdZ3p73HKJkEUC2lcOdk0ruoKV GhpbDOVXwRDtdEiay+lhV/7g03dcP8jGlffgw= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=mime-version:sender:date:x-google-sender-auth:message-id:subject :from:to:cc:content-type; b=L3eQEUmlArAYwQU7lTavhvI3M1kg83X8u1kYpSbxDcujeuxnSHq4fGPYaHusKmr+ei Nat+/xVgPxm7ALbbHPLViGrqsxFgIeN7mHL/jVvxjkEjoDifuQoL9NtTEsmyzZySs/ta KsmnMfJpSBf1ZnOALpgVjIUI3eJYHn5jZj7iM= MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.224.19.203 with SMTP id c11mr2744244qab.170.1296205219207; Fri, 28 Jan 2011 01:00:19 -0800 (PST) Sender: adrian.chadd@gmail.com Received: by 10.220.198.203 with HTTP; Fri, 28 Jan 2011 01:00:19 -0800 (PST) Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2011 17:00:19 +0800 X-Google-Sender-Auth: RxWpdUXLT1nI00-e8GUiEjQ9QZ0 Message-ID: From: Adrian Chadd To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Cc: FreeBSD Net , freebsd-current Subject: [ath] ath_rate_sample changes; please test X-BeenThere: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Mobile computing with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2011 09:00:20 -0000 Hi, I've just committed some changes to the ath_rate_sample module which teach it the bare minimum to transmit MCS frames when in 11n mode. No, this doesn't mean 11n mode is yet available or ready (there's some further work in the TX path first.) I'd appreciate some testing of this just to ensure I haven't busted legacy mode. Thanks, Adrian
