I'm running 8.2-STABLE i386 2011-02-25. Suspend was doing fine, but it would freeze on resume. By trial and error I've been able to pinpoint the problematic driver as ale(4). The machine will correctly resume once I un- load if_ale before suspending. Your battery quite likely is actually dead and provides 20 minutes of run-time only.
