Hi Maho,

I've spent some time to investigate this further; letting away the
FreeBSD ports make engine and just going directly to work/DEV300_m99,
setting the environment (as work/DEV300_m99/Makefile does), going to the
directory in question and saying

	...build --all:hyphen

reprocuces the problem very fast and it seems not to be any resource
problem of not enough memory; there is just something missing in the
source tree or wrong patched for FreeBSD;

btw: the number in the message 'ERROR: error 65280' just is 0xff00;
$ printf "%d\n" 0xff00
65280
