It will be preceded by two days of tutorials on 9-10 May. NOTE: This will be Fri/Sat with tutorials on Wed/Thu. We are now accepting proposals for talks. The talks should be designed with a very strong technical content bias. Proposals of a business development or marketing nature are not appropriate for this venue. If you are doing something interesting with a BSD operating system, please submit a proposal. Whether you are developing a very complex system using BSD as the foundation, or helping others and have a story to tell about how BSD played a role, we want to hear about your experience. People using BSD as a platform for research are also encouraged to submit a proposal. Possible topics include: * How we manage a giant installation with respect to handling spam. * and/or sysadmin. * and/or networking. =46rom the BSDCan website, the Archives section will allow you to review the wide variety of past BSDCan presentations as further examples. Both users and developers are encouraged to share their experiences. The schedule is: 8 Jan 2012 Proposal acceptance begins 29 Jan 2012 Proposal acceptance ends 19 Feb 2012 Confirmation of accepted proposals See also Instructions for submitting a proposal to BSDCan 2012 are available from: --=20 Dan Langille - http://langille.org From owner-freebsd-advocacy@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jan 14 09:43:49 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-advocacy@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E9EDD1065670 for ; Sat, 14 Jan 2012 09:43:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from hans@beastielabs.net) Received: from mail.beastielabs.net (beasties.demon.nl [82.161.3.114]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5FC338FC0C for ; Sat, 14 Jan 2012 09:43:48 +0000 (UTC) Received: from merom.hotsoft.nl (merom.hotsoft.nl [192.168.0.12]) by mail.beastielabs.net (8.14.5/8.14.5) with ESMTP id q0E9hejQ058353; Sat, 14 Jan 2012 10:43:40 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from hans@beastielabs.net) Message-ID: <4F114E4C.4030508@beastielabs.net> Date: Sat, 14 Jan 2012 10:43:40 +0100 From: Hans Ottevanger User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD amd64; rv:9.0) Gecko/20111224 Thunderbird/9.0 MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Ken Smith References: <4F0F729B.1070909@buffalo.edu> In-Reply-To: <4F0F729B.1070909@buffalo.edu> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Cc: freebsd-advocacy@freebsd.org Subject: Re: FYI: 9.0-RELEASE announced... It would be nice to have something to refer journalists to that I happen to meet occasionally. Kind regards, Hans Ottevanger
